By Michael Carvell ajc.com Anthony Williams, a four star recruit, who graduated from Georgia Tech last week with a degree in business management, will play his final season of football at Troy. Williams switched between outside linebacker and defensive end in three seasons at Georgia Tech. He appeared in 28 games for the Yellow Jackets, mostly on special teams. βAt the beginning of this past year, I figured out that I was going to transfer after I graduated from Tech,β Williams said. βI kind of got my name out there, and the defensive line coach at Tech (Mike Pelton) had some connections at Troy University (having coached there). I made a couple of visits to Troy, and it seemed like the best opportunity to finish my last year.β There were rumors that Williams might join his younger brother at Auburn for one season. Andrew Williams, a senior defensive end at Eagles Landing Christian Academy, signed with Auburn over UGA and Clemson last February. ( Full Article) iconTroy3

No guarantee he can help. He was mainly a special teams player. Hope he can help but we will see.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That is correct. My biggest concern for next season is the hope for our defensive line trouble coming in the fall. I hope they hit the ground running but the learning curve is awfully short in the fall. They have a lot to,pick up, learn and show before UAB. Hoping for the best.

Each season is different and I hope this doesn't happen but it is always better when you get a junior college signee enrolled in Jan, get them into conditioning and spring practice. The purpose of signing a junior college player is for them to play immediately. Doesn't help if they come in not ready to play or pick up the scheme late. Hope this group hits the field running because lord knows we need help on defense, especially in the secondary and our inside pass rush.

Let's not take the 'glass-half-empty' approach before any information about the summer work-outs even start. If the coaches haven't come out and say we've got a problem, don't make one. One of the new guys I follow on twitter is chompin' at the bit...constantly tweets about working out and seems like he'll genuinely be ready to go when he sets foot in Troy. That is, by no means, gospel, but it does contradict your line of thinking, in my mind. Last season is history and we, as fans, should leave it in the past. Have a little excitement about the possibilities and not walk around with a cloud over our heads before the season even starts.

I hope they hit the ground running but the learning curve is awfully short in the fall. They have a lot to,pick up, learn and show before UAB. Hoping for the best. We have some guys that can play. Lonnie Gosha (DT) (Arkansas Transfer, 13th best DE from a few years ago on ESPN.com) who was 265 last year now weighs 288. I can only believe the weight increase is a good thing. Tyler Roberts has ALL-SBC DE written all over him if he wasn't already. Deon Lee was a three star DE out of high school, now a So. But I think the biggest surprise may be Billy Dobbs at DT. Add in the new guy from GT and I think we're ok. Not oozing with talent, but they may surprise. We have two or three JUCO DTs and a DE or two coming in from JUCO. The learning curve will be hard, but after UAB we don't play a rival or a SBC game for three more games. There is time. Checking the roster a few days ago, it seems everyone either got fat or has been bulking big time in the weight room. Lots of weight increase across the board. troytrojans.com/roster.aspx?path=football
