That is not an IPF. It's a roof over an artificial turf. Hasn't helped their recruiting at all. That may change when their stadium gets built in 2020. I just want painted endzones.

That don't turn pink. Louisiana Ragin Cajuns have lots of full, rich red on their field. I don't think that was ever a real believable reason why we don't have them.

So does Nebraska, Texas Tech, Ohio State, Rutgers, Eastern Washington has a red field and officially Red is not our color. But hey, by not painting the end zones we were able to upgrade the plastic cups so I guess you dont get it all at Troy

Hire some Amish. They could have a giant pole barn up in a week for $5,000 in materials. Give them some hand saws and they could cut the trees and get that number down to $1,200

Everything they do is 50 times more expensive

Don’t judge too quickly friends, I believe UAB’s and South’s practice facilities are a bit more sophisticated than a simple wooden hay barn. One hundred yards of field turf covered by a metal pavilion with ample lighting and protection from the sun, rain and lightning, at a fraction of the cost of a “traditional” IPF. Don’t be surprised if Troy chooses to avoid writing a big fat check just to say “ours has walls.” Troy doesn’t have unlimited resources, we have to make wise choices.

I had also heard with the Arena, Dining Hall, new Alumni hall, Golf complex, End Zone facility and the new student rec center that Troy can't issues any further bonds. Don't know if that is true but it would make sense

Great staffers, Coaches etc can accomplish much with less. I'm not convinced IPF helps recruiting as much as great staff, but it does allow more practice time in a limited seasonal window.

Let me be clear, I was one of the first to make fun of the "pole barn" at UAB until I saw it myself. The structure that South and UAB have built is very nice and I fully expect Troy AND other schools our size to build the exact same thing. It serves the main purpose of allowing practice to continue no matter what. I even asked if you can practice in lightning and the answer was yes.

Let’s just dome The Vet. Get some AC so I don’t sweat. My comfort is paramount to Troy’s mission.

No it’s not enclosed, but it’s still very nice and impressive. The fact that it allows practice to continue basically no matter what is a huge advantage. Last season, our teams preparation for Boise was hindered because of thunderstorms. They missed some crucial practice time. While obviously we all want an enclosed facility, a pavilion is more realistic at the present moment and would definitely be advantageous.

Andalusia High School has and IPF. A very nice one at that! There are a mere 4A high school in a small town. I am not saying Troy needs one or doesn't (although I suspect it is on the wish list).

It amazes me that football was played for almost 100 years with out A/C and a roof. We actually had to practice in the heat, cold, rain, snow (North), and mud lol. Dont get me wrong, I would have killed for one in August three a days
