Prep Football Star John Jacobs: 'Best Dual-Threat QB in America,' Experts Say SHAWNEE, Okla. — High school quarterback John Jacobs III exhibited a masterful showing in a combine last month in Memphis, having clocked in at 4.47 and 4.49 seconds in the 40-yard dash. To his credit, his immense speed and agility as a dual-threat athlete are among the reasons Jacobs has emerged as one of the nation’s most sought-after prospects for the class of 2015. According to various recruiting analysts, Jacobs, a Dallas native, has upgraded his stock to a 5-star prospect, in large part because he has earned the reputation as someone who has the ability to extend plays. In a nutshell, this speedy athlete is widely regarded as a game-changer, given that he helped steer Shawnee from years of futility to a team that's enjoyed consecutive playoff appearances. That was evident this past season for the Wolves, who finished with a 9-3 mark and advanced to the Class 5A championship game. Against Guthrie, which edged Shawnee, 23-21, Jacobs—rated the top dual-threat passer in America by former University of Oklahoma quarterbacks coach and current DeBartolo Sports instructor Joe Dickinson —was as good as advertised in what undoubtedly was one of the most remarkable performances in recent memory by an Oklahoma high school quarterback. How is a 5 star QB going to be under the radar? I hope we can get him, it would be the recruiting miracle of the century but anything is possible. Being a 5 star from OK you would imagine that he goes to OK St. Or huge Sooners. You also have a Johnny Football less A&M and Charlie Strong at Texas who coached Teddy Bridgewater.

Rivals has him listed as a 2* right now and 247 had not rated him. Troy and UAB are the only schools that have offered him. I would say he is still under the radar.

Another factor is who wins the QB battle. If Silvers does it might be youth, if the juco does we have a shot possibly.

If this kid is as good as they say he is, his stock will rise and he'll go to the bigger university's, just like always. We've got to do better about attracting more three and four stars with the occasional five star somehow. Be it facility, new majors, or more stuff to do in town.

It seems the way we sling the ball around that we could get a HS QB looking to play right away. Similar to the QB Out of Texas that Utah St. Got to go there because he knew he could play right away and he darn near beat Auburn as a true freshman.
