Not sure if this link will work, but Maria Martin , sports reporter for WSFA tweeted that multiple sources have reported that Coach Brown has interviewed for, and is a top candidate for the job at Arizona. To follow her on Twitter it is @riamartin. I hope this is not true.

To follow her on Twitter it is @riamartin. I hope this is not true. Did this man interview for a HC job at Arizona? Surely not. Neal Brown to staff: “I’m staying here” November 30, 2017 Scott Watkins Sun Belt Conference According to a source within the program, Troy head coach Neal Brown told his staff on Tuesday that he intends to remain in Troy following this season. Brown called a staff meeting and alerted his assistants of his intentions. Brown has been a popular name as the coaching carousel begins to heat up. His name has been thrown into several hats for multiple Power Five openings, albeit mostly by fans. It should be noted that we’re still very early in the process and it’s unlikely Brown has received any major offers. Brown’s message to the staff could have some insight as to what kind of job he is looking for, though. Making an apparent decision before second and third tier jobs come available tells us that Brown may be holding out for an SEC type job. With UCF’s Scott Frost and Memphis’ Mike Norvell being legit contenders for major jobs, their departure would leave empty seats in the Group of Five’s premier jobs. While Brown appears to be holding out, he will be on the immediate short list of both schools if their current head coaches were to leave. Neither Memphis nor UCF can offer SEC money but both can present an offer that’s considerably more handsome that what Brown is making now. With all that said, the 20 Days following the Arkansas State game will be critical. High-level G5 jobs and low-level P5 jobs will start opening up and Brown will receive multiple phone calls. If he leaves it’ll be in the 20 days after this Saturday’s game. Brown has compiled a 22-13 record in nearly three years at Troy and has the Trojans playing for their first Sun Belt title since 2010 on Saturday. Brown signed a restructured contract last spring that boosted his base salary to $850,000 and reworked his bonus set up.

So, he's just paying an agent for doing nothing? There'll come a day when this happens, rest assured. Hartwell, and to an extent, McClain, have positioned this program to be successful, with or without NB, for the foreseeable future. We can't get all wrapped around an axle every-time his name gets mentioned.

My point is, unsolicited, no offers, out of the blue:
Neal Brown to staff: “I’m staying here” November 30, 2017 Scott Watkins Sun Belt Conference
He’s leaving whether today, tomorrow, next year. And I am very happy for all. Troy football will be coached. Who/what was the above for? Did everyone here sleep better? Did you get a warm fuzzy feeling? WOW!

We may be okay. I believe Brown has a buyout of about $3 Million. I don't know if Arizona would want to spend that kind of money PLUS what they would pay CNB. If they do take him then we'll have about 3 million to go coach shopping. Hoping Brown stays, praying in fact, but it's out of our hands at this point.

I too hope he stays another year but for coach I wish him the best

So if he were to go, who’d be on the list of people Troy calls? Seemed like a lot of folks liked Steve Campbell but he’s off the board at this point...who’s next?

I think we need to stop and think. I’m sure they have Sumlin at the top of the list. After that I would think that some others are listed besides Coach Brown. We have to look at the reasoning behind them potentially wanting Coach Brown which is reportedly “NASCAR offense”. FootballScoop is something to keep an eye on. Nobody needs to freak yet.

If he goes - good for him and he is deserving - oh and good for Troy - $3million in the bank - a lot can be done with 3 million

Uh, No First he will probably follow Neal. Second, I would take a long hard look at the James Madison Coach. Look up his record everywhere he has been he has won including at the Citadel and Nat Championships and Nat Championship games.

I'm saying IF something happens now, you have to keep someone from this staff as an interim. If McClain names anyone from this staff interim Head Coach, that's a big pay day for them and a chance to prove themselves. Sumrall is my choice and I think he would stay, several of the guys on this staff will stay. I'm sure Arizona has guys on the staff that the new coach will be required to keep, meaning they won't be able to take everyone they want. All 100% my personal opinion. Zero facts involved here.
