This was a fun game to watch last night. I am more worried than I was about stAte and less worried than I was about Southern.
Southern Thoughts: As expected they score a lot of points. But, Chun, Anderson, and Frye are going to have a field day. The D tires easily and is slow after that.
stAte Thoughts: Make them throw early and we win big. They took advantage of the Southern D being out of gas in the end and got a little lucky too.

I will add the stAte defense looked pretty good against the GaSo run game. But they are suspect to the pass. GaSo is suspect to the read option, delayed hand off. If Brandon can read this right and keep the ball when he needs to we will be fine.

Ga S had a +5 TO margin in the game and they only managed to score 23 pts.
ASU's offense looked very discombobulated but they had the athletes at RB to make up for the lack of cohesion btw QB/RB/WRs.
I agree GSUs DLine are some big uglys but they tired easily which allowed the ASU RB's to find BIG holes on their cut backs on outside run plays.
ASU's D was pretty good. They flew around and were getting good penetration against the read options and triple options and blew up plays it seemed like every series in the back field.
I just wish we played both of these two teams earlier in the season. I have a feeling both will have figured out their O's before the end of the season.

I don't know if they are that good or if Southern tired that much.

Im not worried about either more than I was before... they both looked terrible!
stAte turned it over 5 times and Southern couldn't beat them with that? Ouch

ASTATE lost three fumbles, had the ball intercepted two times, and turned it over on downs late in the game, but still kept their composure and won the game. Meanwhile they logged 525 yards of offense with all those turnovers. I'd say they're pretty good overcoming all that.

I watched some but not all of the game...what I saw did not look good for the Belt...maybe the other 40 percent looked better

No one in the belt looks good outside us and App
USA has wins over miss state and SDSU. But turn around and lose to crap ULL who lost to NMSU and ga Southern who lost to 0-4 stAte.

I know the season is far from over but after watching this game last night, it really makes me wonder if this could be our year. If we continue to hold down the turnovers and penalties, and we keep playing the kind of dominate defense we've seen thus far, and continue our strong running game along with our receivers running their patterns and catching the balls thrown their way, we should be in for a very exciting time at TROY! Again, there's a long season ahead but the WALL is definitely being constructed at a fast pace.
GO TROY!

Georgia State ranks dead last in FBS football in four major offensive categories, and also punt returns. VK should have a good gameplan for this and I don't see them slowing down our offense.

A friend from Ga reminded me that GaSo played Saturday and again last night thus a possible explanation for their complete ineptness in stopping the run and fatigue. I didn't remember that. If true, that's thought to do.

Exactly. Teams win on saturdays, not my message board thoughts. Pointing out that Vic Koenning's defense should be able to handle the worst offense in the country is not overlooking an opponent, it's a reasonable assumption. If that doesn't happen, then either the team wasn't prepared well enough, or GSU decided to run a completely different playbook than they have until this point.

I agree discussions on a message board have zero bearing on the outcome of a football game no matter when it is played. I really don't understand why this bothers people so much. A discussion about a game between two future opponents and how we as a team match up with those opponents is enjoyable for many here...myself included. I don't think anyone is overlooking GaSt. I am certainly not. However, I enjoy the conversation because guess how many people in my day to day work life want to talk about anything TROY? You guessed it none. It's all SEC blah blah blah. So where do I have to come to talk about TROY and SunBelt conference issues? Here. With my fellow TROJANS. Sorry for the semi-rant but I really don't understand the position of discussing various future or past opponents could cause the team to faulter.

We would put both these teams in a headlock and temple punch them into submission. We destroy them.
