The bowl scenarios may be complicated around the nation, but they are simple for the Troy Trojans. A win in Friday’s home game with Texas State makes the Trojans eligible for a bowl invitation and highly optimistic they’ll have a place to visit for the holidays. A loss signals the start of the offseason and a bitter winter, no matter the weather. “Getting this victory, that’s the only thing on my mind, and getting to a bowl game,” Troy receiver Eric Thomas said. “That’s it. One step at a time. Once we get that victory, the sky’s the limit.” The Trojans aren’t ignoring the ramifications of the game. They’ve gone beyond the cliché “one game at a time” and have talked about how they need to win or this is the last game. “I hope they’re talking about it, especially if it’s motivation,” coach Larry Blakeney said. Blakeney said the Trojans have “a very legitimate shot” at a bowl invitation if they win, despite the 6-6 record they would have. “But first comes first and that’s a win,” Blakeney said.
