Since he did not practice last week due to injuries but managed to record an interception return for a touchdown, Troy safety Camren Hudson deserves a week off, right?
Nah, according to the senior.
“They do want me to practice this week. I can’t get this week off. It’s up to the coaches,” Hudson said. “I can’t make (those) decisions. I could try to persuade them, but that wouldn’t work.”
If anyone could get away with it, it would be Hudson, Trojans head coach Larry Blakeney said.
“Practice is overrated. That's what everybody says,” Blakeney said with a smile.”He was just beat to a pulp last week. We couldn't practice him, but he's an experienced guy, he's a seasoned guy, he's a tough guy. Most human beings probably wouldn't have played in the game.”
Hudson said Monday that he began last week, feeling between 40- and 50-percent healthy as he battled hip, back and rib injuries on his right side.
Hudson, though, is likely used to playing with some type of injury. He said shoulder injuries limited him in his freshman and junior years, while a finger injury hampered his sophomore campaign.
When asked if he was 100 percent this week, he responded negatively.
“It’s what – Week (12)? Nah,” he said. “I’m close to it – a good 80 percent, but not 100 percent.”
That improvement, though, means he could have a better game against the Ole Miss Rebels Saturday, according to Blakeney.( Full Article) sFi_lance
