The last time Troy faced a SEC team, things got ugly quickly as the Trojans dropped a 62-7 decision to the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
It is once again an SEC week, and the Trojans know they must forget the last SEC game and perform better when they challenge Ole Miss Saturday at 11 a.m.
The offensive stars feel especially motivated after managing just one score and 186 yards of offense against the Bulldogs on Sept. 21.
“ We obviously know we should have played better to help our defense out in that game,” said Corey Robinson, the Trojans quarterback. “We’ve got to help those guys out, keep them off the field. (The Rebels are) a physical football team, big and strong and fast. We’ve got to stay on the field a little bit longer this time unlike last time.”
Troy receiver Eric Thomas agrees. “ Every time we touch the ball, we think about scoring. We just got to go ahead and put points on the board early,” Thomas said.
But after surrendering 62 points – including 35 in a terrible second quarter – the defense is feeling the pressure to do better, too.
“ We got a whole lot to redeem,” senior strong safety Camren Hudson said. “We got to make a big turnaround from the last SEC game we played. We can’t take these guys light, either. We’re looking to get bowl-eligible.” (Full Article)
