Volatility has dominated college athletics in the last few years – from changes in conference alignment to the implementation of a college football playoff system to the granting of more institutional autonomy in the Power 5 conferences. Even on a local level, the Troy athletics department has changed dramatically in the last three years under departing athletics director John Hartwell’s direction. All of the Trojans’ head coaches except women’s basketball, men’s golf and volleyball are all Hartwell hires. Softball and golf facilities were upgraded during his tenure, and Hartwell and staff have brought the Trojans closer to the $25-$30 million North End Zone Project for Veterans Memorial Stadium. www.dothaneagle.com/sports/troy/outgoing-ad-reflects-on-troy-career-filled-with-changes/article_dbe8988a-2520-11e5-9a71-4b89d1874381.html?TNNoMobile

It's imperative that we hire a man cut from the same cloth as John Hartwell.

Hope we get a hire soon. I hope we don't open camp with no AD in place.

I think we need a hire in place by camp and positively by school. Imo if they don't have a candidate nailed down by now, it's not looking good. Don't know if their is a rule that a AD be in place by school but it woukd make sense. Football is not the only fall sport. Basketball starts up in October I believe and soccer and cross country are in season also. Hoping for a great hire that can do even better things for Troy

Don't know if the NCAA says their has to be a AD in place. If it's no big deal then postpone it and put the salary towards the end zone complex. Works for me.

Do we have an interim AD right now? Also who is overseeing the end zone project right now as I believe Hartwell was or at least had a major part in it.

Do we have an interim AD right now? Also who is overseeing the end zone project right now as I believe Hartwell was or at least had a major part in it. Day-to-day would be Steve Stroud and Sandy Atkins. Hawkins said if an executive decision about something was needed before a new hire is made, Atkins would make the call.

The wheels seem to be turning on the AD search.
