Troy Softball Names Taylor Smartt as Assistant CoachMatt MaysTROY, Alabama – The Troy softball program and head coach Beth Mullins announced the hiring of Taylor Smartt as a full-time assistant coach on Tuesday. Smartt served as the Trojans' volunteer assistant coach last season and replaces Whitney Cloer who has left the Troy program. "I am very thankful for the opportunity to coach for my alma mater and to join a phenomenal coaching staff under Coach Mullins," Smartt said. "I am excited about moving forward and can't wait to see what the future holds for the Trojans." Working primarily with the Trojans' hitters last season, Smartt was a big part of a team that set a program record with 51 home runs. The Trojans also more hit 72 doubles after just 34 in the previous season. "I am very excited to name Taylor Smartt as an assistant coach here at Troy University," Mullins said. I am so happy for Taylor, she is a great young lady with a real passion for her sport. I have to agree with her old dad, she will make a great coach (must be something in the bloodline)!!! Looking forward to seeing the Lady Trojans continuing what they started building on this past season. Congrats Taylor, you deserve this opportunity!
