While Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns sport the nation’s 18th-best rushing attack, it is their offensive balance that Troy coaches fear most.
ULL comes into tonight’s game averaging 227 yards rushing, but they also pass for 217 yards per game behind the arm of Terrance Broadway.
“I think Broadway is the key along with the running game because he can make plays throwing it, but they just don’t ask him to a whole lot,” Trojans head coach Larry Blakeney said. “He’s a good player. It won’t be just the running game. It’ll be having a way to stop them all the way across the board.”
Broadway has completed 64 percent of his passes for 1,679 yards, 12 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has attempted 191 passes, which is only 128 pass attempts behind Troy’s Corey Robinson.
Still, the 191 attempts means an average of almost 24 per game, which serves as a great complement to the Ragin Cajuns’ running attack, led by Gadsden’s Alonzo Harris and Elijah McGuire.
“Their passing attack is not as sophisticated as (Louisiana) Monroe or (Western Kentucky coach Bobby) Petrino, but it’s very effective,” said Wayne Bolt, Trojans defensive coordinator. “A lot simpler, but you’ve got to be able to try to stop the run, which puts you in man coverage, and here we go again with the passing game.” (Full Article) iconTroy3
