As many yards as Troy gains in a given game, the Trojans have developed a trend of giving some of it back in the form of penalties. In the last two games alone, Troy has accrued 21 penalties for 219 yards. Currently the Trojans are tied for the 19th-most penalized team in the nation but have the fourth worst yards per game average in the FBS. Personal foul penalties have driven the yardage up. In the last two games alone, Troy has been whistled eight times (not including offsetting) for the 15-yard fouls. Trojans head coach Larry Blakeney said he has addressed the issue with his team. “What do you think? Would you think maybe I’ve discussed the penalties?” he asked in response to a question at Monday’s press conference. “Well if I haven’t, it’s been discussed enough by other people to suffice, yes, sir.” Blakeney said his players must understand rules have to be obeyed no matter how intense games get. “They got to understand that the rules are made for us to be able to play these games and present ourselves as good citizens, good people,” he said. “The law of the land in football is enforced by officials. You got to respect them, and you can’t do the thing (like personal fouls).” ( Full Article) iconTroy3

While I will agree that we have some discipline issues the officials in this conference are terrible. The umpire for the most recent crew very well may be the worst official on the FBS level.

Three games with the questionable crew, here are the average numbers.
Troy 9-94
Opp 5-45
Six games with other officiating crews.
Troy 6-68
Opp 8-58
A difference of 3 penalties each way. The timing of these penalties have been devastating at times. Also the penalties on Georgia St were mainly called in the 4th quarter against them and were very blatant. The penalties against Troy were drive killers and drive sustainers throughout the game. It seems at times this crew tries to even the numbers late in the game. ULM had zero penalties at halftime and Troy had five.

Not the ones we had those 3 games. I don't think they can call another Troy game this year. However, it is the Sun Belt so anything is possible.
