UL coach Mark Hudsepth calls the Ragin’ Cajuns’ opponent this week, Troy, “a team … that needs no introduction, a team that has probably been the most-successful team in this conference.”
Understandably, too, since the Trojans won five outright or shared Sun Belt Conference championships from 2006-10.
Troy’s quest for a sixth, however, took a dent with last Thursday’s loss to UL Monroe – their second in league play this season, dropping the Trojans to 3-2 in SBC games and 5-4 overall.
It’s with that in mind that Hudspeth, whose 6-2 Cajuns have won six in a row following their come-from-behind victory over New Mexico State on Saturday, suggests coach Larry Blakeney’s club will be playing with a purpose when it visits Cajun Field for an ESPNU-televised game Thursday night.
“They have an outstanding football team,” Hudspeth said of the Trojans, who trailed UL (3-0), UL Monroe (3-1) and Arkansas State (2-1) in the standings.
“They’re gonna come out swinging, they’re gonna come out clawing to stay in the race,” the Cajun coach added. “So they’re like one of those wounded animals backed in a corner. They’re gonna come out playing awfully hard. We know that. Our kids know that.” (Full Article)
