Troy will follow up a tough home loss with a tough road trip.
The Trojans fell 49-37 at home against Louisiana-Monroe this past Thursday to snap a three-game winning streak, dropping their record to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in the Sun Belt conference.
This Thursday, they'll take their act on the road to meet another Bayou State representative when they face Louisiana-Lafayette at 6:30 p.m. in a game set to air live on ESPNU at 6:30 p.m.
The Ragin' Cajuns are are holding down first place in the conference at 6-2 (3-0) and riding a six-game winning streak after dropping their first two games at Arkansas and Kansas State.
"Very good job by them, not too good by us. We've got to find a way to put together a road plan for another Louisiana team," Troy coach Larry Blakeney said. "They're a little bit different. They struggled a little bit to get a win against New Mexico State. I think they were down 28-7 and came back and got the W. That's a sign of a good football team. They're another team in our league, just like all the teams in our league you can win or lose on any given night against any team in our conference."
The Trojans have lost to ULL the past two seasons. The last time they beat the Ragin' Cajuns was 2010 when they downed the Ragin' Cajuns 31-24 at Veterans Memorial Stadium on their way to bowl victory.
It'll be somewhat of a homecoming for Troy senior wideout Eric Thomas, a Louisiana native.
"Since we only beat them once and that was my freshman year and we haven't beat them since," Thomas said. "So, we gotta gotta go down there and get this victory. It's my last year. It'll put us back in the conference race with a victory."
They way Blakeney sees it, it will be a difficult but not undoable task. (Full Article)
