While most games involving Troy feature an aerial assault from (and on) the Trojans, the other type of offense may take center stage Thursday night against Louisiana-Lafayette. The Ragin Cajuns’ will test the Trojans’ 29 th -best run defense with running backs Alonzo Harris and Elijah McGuire – both of whom are coming off a recent string of good performances. Harris is the reigning Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for 106 yards and five touchdowns in the Ragin’ Cajuns comeback win against New Mexico State. The Gadsden product has ripped off three consecutive 100-yard performances. Meanwhile, true freshman Elijah McGuire is averaging 8.7 yards per carry and has 497 yards rushing this season. He rushed for 110 yards against Arkansas State two weeks ago and had 72 yards against the Aggies last week. Trojans head coach Larry Blakeney knows slowing the ULL rushing attack will be a key to victory. “ They do a lot of read-type stuff and make you stay at home. You got to play your responsibility,” he said. “They give (Harris) some chances. They’re big up front, and they do a very good job.” ( Full Article) iconTroy3
