Lost three games in a row. I think everyone is probably shocked or upset about losing to ASU, BUT I do not think this is the first loss to them in recent years. TOO many base runners left standing on base instead of crossing the plate.
Conference play begins this weekend and we are currently sitting in the middle of the conference standings. I would think the first dozen games the coaching staff has been playing with all of the puzzle pieces (batting roster, pitching rotation, field assignments) and NOW has a better idea of what IS working and what is not working.
STILL a lot of baseball to be played and I STILL expect this year to be special. See you next Tuesday in Birmingham along with others?

Alabama St has been pretty good in recent years. No shame in a loss to them. A lot of questions to still be answered with this team. One thing for sure is that there's several talented young guys on this team.

Bama State is a pretty good team year in and year out. Their coach has a lot of contacts in a certain area of the country... wait for it.... south Florida. Seriously, he gets a lot of players from that General area... and farther south. They can play some baseball down there.

How in the heck do we lose to Bama State? Alabama State also beat Cal State Fullerton who is a national power in baseball. ASU is the consensus favorite to win their conference and go to the NCAA tournament, I don't believe any other DI program in Alabama can make that claim. Hopefully we can return the favor when they come to Troy on 3/31.

Mervyl Melendez has turned that program around up there. I know many that wanted to see him come to Troy following Bobby's retirement. It would have been a really good hire, however I think we are in good hands for the future.
