I haven't been to a Troy basketball game in like 20 years. I want to see the new arena and I've been waiting for an opportune weekend. I'm excited.

Unfortunately it will. Unless it's a big name school NEGATIVE NELLIE EMERGES ONCE AGAIN!!! GO TROJANS!!! I like to be called Realistic Randy. Look at the attendance figures. We draw no better than Sartain with the exception of Miss St and Ole Miss. The students and locals don't get excited about basketball. Hope it changes

The students and locals don't get excited about basketball. Hope it changes Success will change the attendance. People by nature love to cheer for winners as we all know. I have the opinion that WPJ doesn't sign with Troy without the arena. More players like him will sign with Troy because of the arena. Troy basketball is on the rise. Once that part of the wall is completely rebuilt the attendance will rise as well. JMHO

Nellies are Trojan Horses in my book. You can take shots at attendance from 400 miles away pal, i suppose that ratonalizes your absence. But leave the negativism in the heart of horse country please.

Insulting those that don't live in Pike County does nothing to help the cause. I drive 12 hours round-trip for six football games a year plus football night, T day, fan night, football night and 3 to 4 other days a year to see my daughter and hopefully a baseball game. I wonder if you would do the same if you lived 330 miles away, I would hope you would also. Insulting alumni fans and Troy supporters who don't live next-door to the university does nothing but harm Troy. I don't agree with every post here as most people don't but I don't insult posters and call them names or question why they can't attend sporting events when they don't live in Troy. I am an alumni, a former player, a Trojan Warrior and send my daughter to Troy, just because I don't live next-door to the school does not make me any more or any less of a Troy fan than you are. All I stated was facts about basketball attendance it was the same way when I was a student here almost 30 years ago. Do I want this to change, of course. Do I want Troy to win in every sport, of course. Do I hope for more local and student support, of course. Do I wish that I could attend every basketball, baseball, soccer and every other sport at TROY, of course. Unfortunately I run my own business which I can't take off from every weekend to follow Troy everywhere. i attend Troy every opportunity that I can afford financially and timewise. Insulting Troy fans that live so far away does nothing but harm Troy in the long run. Go Troy and onward and upward

Funny thing is I know several people on this board that talk about attendance that live in Troy and don't even go to the games.
Why we constantly cut on each other is a wonderment.
Peace.

Yes, we need to try to see the glass half full as often as possible. We all need to be considerate of others opinions if they are kept respectable but sometimes we allow our annominity to let us become belligerent toward each other. I occasionally disagree with my FRIEND AND FELLOW "T" CLUBBER troystet but this is one of the times he is right. Attendance, especially from our student body, is poor and has been since I was there and played. Kids go HOME on Friday so on the weekend they are with the folks back home doing their thing. It's a choice!. At least when I was a player at Troy the students that came stayed even though some of our games I wouldn't have blamed them for leaving....well our baseball games were good but we never had 300 show for a game. !:-) During the week they sadly chose to stay away unless something VERY SPECIAL is happening at the athletic venue. All you have to do is be at ball games in the fall and watch the student section empty as though the stadium is on fire after halftime. Troy students have just never been huge supporters and that is one of John Hartwells biggest challenges as we move forward. Embarrassing but sadly typical for colleges these days. Outside the students, the Troy area is typical Alabama countryside, beautiful but scarcely populated so its more difficult to show up at every contest like some do. For me its 5 hours round trip plus hotel, meals etc. Every game and I live fairly close. That's A LOT different than jumping into your pickup, running up to the stadium, gym, field for a game them back home and to bed by 11:00. It's twice the "happening" for Troy to have 20,000 at a football game or say 4,000 at a basketball or baseball game that a university located in a metropolitan area but we should have respectable attendances and thst falls largely on students at least during weekday games.

It seems somewhat hypocritical to complain about attendance when you, yourself aren't in attendance. That doesn't mean you don't a good and legitimate reason for not being there, but the fact of the matter is you aren't there. If you are that overly concerned with the attendance issue you could buy four GA tickets and give them away to someone local that can attend. I'm also confused by people calling out locals for not attending when, again you aren't there checking ID's to see where each person is from. By the way student sttendace wasn't as bad as it had been in the past. They took almost an entire section to themselves Saturday night.

Hemi, not trying to stir but how do you differientiate between a "complaint" and a statement of fact? I'm glad we filled a section with students last BB game but what percentage of our main site students is that? Football games student attendances are sad! I do agree that it does no good to gripe about things you can't solve BUT you can't disparage those who's lives place them away from Troy. They are still living, devoted fans.
