Seen all the posts, the naysayers, the doubters, the critics. Since JH set foot on campus, things are a changin'! EVERY Troy Athletic endeavor gets JH full attention, each will be be the best it can be, or changed!
It is his responsibility, his authority, his plan, his guidance and ultimately, he is accountable!! Trust me, Troy Athletics is in exceptionally good hands!!! Each new hire gets his full attention, from HC to GA!! That's a good thing!!
The best is yet to come, but in the meantime, kudos to JH. This >> john-hartwell cornhole appreciate ya, man!! 04-clap2
GO TROJANS!!

I hope we can hold onto him for a long time.
It's my worry someone will snatch him up.

Just about anyone would have been an improvement from the former AD.

Before we start inducting Hartwell into the AD Hall-of-Fame, remember that just about all of the athletic facility improvements were in place before he set foot on campus. His background is on the financial side of things, raising money for capital improvements such as the end zone facility - which still isn't close to being built.

Yes, I think we gets up every morning, walks across Lake Lagoona, speaks to the birds and squirrels while deciding which athletic program he will bless with his presense for the day.

Just by reading this thread you can quickly tell who has been around John and knows his vision and passion, and those that are further removed.

His performance has been fine to this point and I expect even more from the man......I also expect a school in a larger market to pick him up......Not anytime soon though......

I may not know Hartwell as well as some of the folks on the board as I have only talked to him a few dozen times or so, but what do I know. Not trying to be a "hater" by any means. I think Hartwell has been a big upgrade from the previous AD, but I still skeptical that most of these financial decisions are made above Hartwell's pay grade.

So who do you credit with getting that decision making to change, Obama? He has made several great looking hires and some left to be evaluated but can anyone point out a dud? I for one think that a lot of these funds have been available before but it took John to get them dedicated to where they needed to be. It's dufficilt to understand critics who constantly find fault with one situation then a new man comes in, changes things for the good and they remain skeptical. I guess you can't change a "glass half empty" kinda personality or not for long at least. You know, like the great ship builder who everyone cheers for when the great ship was build but let the da-- thing spring one little leak and its Titanic time! Just sayin', give credit as quick as you give criticism! John is doing a lot of things really well. Isn't that what we wanted? JMHO!:-)

Hartwell has more power and freedom in decision making than Dennis ever did. In all honesty he's more qualified to make those decisions. His background is vastly different than the previous AD. Also his ability to communicate with donors of any and all levels is far far superior to Steve Dennis. Obviously Dr Hawkins will still be involved in a lot of decision making as he is the Chancellor of the university.

Hartwell seems to listen more to the programs supporters. This is from the few times I have been around him.
Dennis, from the first time I laid eyes on him, just didn't seem to take anything to heart. And his last year was just mailed in.
When Dennis pulled the plug on the tailgate terrace, I knew it was a mistake. He lost about 50-60 people from Elba that day...not all attended the games on time (or at all at times). This has greatly hurt tailgating atmosphere, IMO. I can remember several times all he would say is Alabama/Auburn doesn't have designated RV hookup(and I don't know if they do or don't). I don't understand why we had to be like AL/AU...we aren't them. I wish they would have kept this area and killed the TV hook-ups about 15 minutes before game time...then back on after the game. Treat it like a TV blackout, and leave it on if the game is a sell-out.

When Dennis pulled the plug on the tailgate terrace, [/quote]
I thought this directive came from the Pike Road offices of the university. The higher ups didn't want to sit in their boxes and look out at all of the people enjoying themselves outside of the stadium.

That seems to be small time thinking in my opinion. If you want to watch other games bring a satellite setup.

Tailgating was growing and has flat lined after. Sometimes to grow something you have to fertilize it. Small time thinking would be to not foster something into something bigger.

The "change" came under the direction of Mt High, Steve was just the messenger. BTW - anyone know of another university that provides electric, water and cable within a designated RV area? I have yet to see one.
