By Jeremy Wise jwise@dothaneagle.com TROY – Troy midfielder Kailani Decock hurdled many different obstacles – mainly Hodgkin’s lymphoma – to return to the soccer pitch for her senior season. And as magical as the 2014 season has been, it proved to be a worthwhile effort. “ In the summer, I don’t know if I could have said that, but now it’s all worth it,” Decock said. The Trojans have shattered several individual and team marks, registering a 14-5 mark en route to earning a No. 2 seed for this week’s Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Troy opens with Louisiana-Lafayette Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Mobile as South Alabama is the host. Prior to this year, Troy had registered just two winning seasons in 17 years of soccer. First-year head coach Jason Hamilton, who replaced current Colorado State assistant Chris Bentley, said the amount of success has been a bit of a surprise. “ I don’t think we expected it. We set some goals, and we achieved those goals,” said Hamilton, a former Florida assistant. “One of the goals was to win 10 games and finish over .500. One of the other goals was to finish in the top-three (in the conference). “ We made goals we thought were achievable, and we just happened to exceed those goals.” Full Article: www.dothaneagle.com/sports/troy/troy-soccer-team-continues-dream-season-at-sun-belt-tourney/article_e404c22c-63c0-11e4-945a-0017a43b2370.html
