Mr. Ho tire of taking stair.
Lets face it, the Sunbelt is a bad basketball conference that should be easier to dominate with 1st class facilities. Yet, we fall woefully short year after year. Ho have/had high hopes for Scott Frost. He created a dominating program at UTA. But that hasn't translated over to the Normal School.
Granted, he followed what might have been a worse hire than CL, who set the program back years. We went from playing in a packed sardine can, to a near empty basketball arena. Sartain was so packed the Fire Marshall once had to turn people away. Now, there is no excitement in the program. Zero. I rarely see half the seats full and worse, the floor seats are empty too. Heck, when Normal went on the road, gyms were packed because NOBODY liked us at all because we played with a (The HC we don’t speak of) on our shoulder and we dominated. So what once was is now a distant memory or worse never a memory. Scott Frost walked into that.
I can barely watch a game on the worldwide web these days. We have no real offensive personality. Can't rebound. And miss free throws at a rate so bad that when we sink two it's like hitting the jackpot. Our half court offense is poor at best. We are basically just shooting 3 pointers anyway because we dont match up well with other teams. Why pass the ball erratically and jack up bad 3 contested point shots. Think about it... we are still built for DMs offense yet run set plays. I guess they are set plays.
And here is a Sunbelt fact: One does not have to play "great" defense when the opponent's offense is so bad. Playing "great" defense in this league would limit teams to 36 points per game. And one of the best defenses is the other team having to take the ball out of the net.
The game has changed too. Why recruit high school kids when they leave in a year or two, as we have seen. Bring back players with an edge and recruit overseas. Like go crazy and take risks on a 7' center from Nigeria. Ho not care if one person speaks English as long as they can dominate.
Ho like Frost and assume he will figure it out, but this is a league ripe for dominating and we aren't dominating.

One poor outing and the Boo-Birds are out already. 5-2 SBC record still not a bad start.
Ask me again at end of the season.
cornhole tire of boo-birds mid-season.

Ho not booing failure...Ho booing being satisfied at finishing mid-pack year after year. It's been pointed out numerous occasions, this team can compete at home but wouldn't win the GulfSouth on the road. That UAB-Mobile game was just brutal to watch.

I only agree that I'd like to see more portal players brought in. I still think Scott Cross is good for Troy basketball. He's re-established some basketball culture that became non-existent under Phil Cunningham. I'll still take the 20-win seasons every year and finishing in mid-pack of the SBC, instead of the stupid 8, 9, and 10 win seasons that became the norm for so many years.

Once again, it circles back around to the George Harrison lyrics - "It's gonna take money, a whole lo of spending money. It's gonna take plenty of money, to do it right child."

I’m happy with 5-2 SBC, but 1-7 on the road is the worst I’ve seen in the last 20 years of Troy basketball. I’m trying to be optimistic that we can change course on the road, but we’d be a .500 team at this point if we hadn’t already played 3 glorified high school teams. I think Coach Cross is a good coach, but it’s hard to win consistently when you have to bring in 7+ players year after year. If I was ADBJ I would look to make a change if we don’t win the Sun Belt by next season.

I fear the portal, NIL etc has affected the chamces that ANY BB team can win consistently, even in the P-5.

You want to get rid of a guy who has had two straight 20-win seasons, and currently has this team at 11-9 (5-2) and OVERACHIEVING. It's hard to find HC's that consistently win. Just ask UTA after they fired Scott Cross when all he did was win. They'd take him back in a heartbeat. Geez, half of the SBC would be THRILLED to have the results we've had the past three seasons.

If you fire Scott Cross, this is what will happen:
* A coach will be hired who starts losing every year.
* A coach will be hired who brings the same results as Scott Cross.
* A coach will be hired who takes us to the NCAA Tourney and is hired away by a bigger school quickly, and we're back at square one.
The chances don't work in Troy's favor if Cross is let go.

Basketball has a higher percentage of players thinking they can get NIL money. Plus most BB players have played on numerous teams from school to summer league ,AAU and etc. Football players are not used to that nearly as much. So, while the average football guy has played on a few teams and often with many of the same guys, the basketball player since starting has been on 20 with all kinds of mix and match. That NIL almost goes hand in hand with the BB sense of nomadic life was bound to tear, rip and devour the resemblance of what it was 5 years ago. Beck lamenting the ole ONE AND DONE is just par for the course but for different reasons. That ONE and DONE use to only hit elite squads. Now it hits everyone. New team every year. We complain about football changing but college BB at the G5 level is complete bonkers.

Ho, your egg drop soup sucks. Enjoy the elevator rides!

LoL. Frost was Ho’s boy coming in, even he has fell down a few flights of stairs on Cross.
Troy will never compete for National Championships. With coaching, development and some NIL a team can form and win the SunBelt. Used to be against but now for a sub-division in FBS. At least Troy has a chance for the big one.

This will be a big week. If we can sweep through Georgia — both very winnable games — we can contend for the regular-season title. We've got to learn to close out road games. We have three losses by 1 point, another by 2 and another by 3 away from Trojan Arena. Thirteen more well-placed points means we're 18-3, not 13-8.

Honesty compels me to say, midway through the schedule, I too felt we'd never win another road game.To the credit of HCSC, his staff, and a great group young men, they have turned things around and have a great shot at winning the tourney. This is a young team that has matured and come of age before our eyes. Myles Rigsby and Victor Valdez are in my opinion, the best examples of this.

Ho drunk on Thunderbird and Ripple. He’s falling down in the elevator. Ripple? Ho not drink that swill. Ho new favorite is Wild Irish Rose with Ginseng. It's like some sort of fierce energy drink gone wrong mixed with the original Wild Irish Rose. With a wonderful bouquet of ethanol and Dawn Dish Soap*, but Ho digress. On serious note, losers on this board should thank Ho. Ever since his stair-taking rant, TMTDM have play with their pants on fire. Ho like HC Scott Frost. Never mention once about canning him. Win a game in P'cola and get an invite to something. Win two and lobby for the play-in game with a chance to win a NCAA Tournament game. Ho think outside of box all day long. * Parody. Every clown on this Board know Ho favorite cool refreshing alcohol drink is Woodford. Ho not condon two things: 1. Consuming Sushi purchased at Dollar General and 2. Drinking anything below the top shelf at your favorite establishment, although you need to bring your own drink glass if that said place is the Front Porch. Woodford and plastic cups don't mix but Ho digress again.
