College football head coach. You don't have to honor your existing contract and can leave at any time for more money or if you stink the place up and get fired they have to pay you not to coach. Only in America

College football head coach. You don't have to honor your existing contract and can leave at any time for more money or if you stink the place up and get fired they have to pay you not to coach. Only in America You work 90 hours a week and miss most of kids life. You’re criticized relentlessly by people that have no clue. Your family’s lives are continually disrupted by moves. Yeah it’s an easy job.

When you lay it out like it makes me realize I'd never cut it because even if I were enlightened with knowledge of the Xs and Os the same way as Jon, Saban, etc. I could never be away from my wife and kid's life in that way. Not even for a $1M.

Yeah it’s an easy job. For what these guys make I would work 95 hours a week, they could call me names and criticize me all they want. My wife does that now and I don't make close to what they make

I'd prefer a winning coach who stayed more than two seasons but that's just me Me too. But landing that successful combination is a very tough challenge for a relatively small D-I program. Let's get real. Troy (we) either pony up the $$$ to attract and hold a great Coach for 5 years or more, slide back to FCS or smaller or fold football altogether. It starts from folks making simple decisions like ... Buying season tickets instead of GA tickets only when I can make the games. Supporting my Alma Mater even when I don't agree with Coaching hires or play calling etc. Every little bit adds up, gains momentum and snowballs into greater leverage for Troy Athletics Sound familiar??

Agreed. Nothing builds that more than winning and excitement. The challenge for Troy is keeping this momentum in the state of college football where coaches will leave in a second for any offer of more money. There is a formula for a successful coach at Troy and that is the characteristics of NB and JS. Both leaders, hired great staff, discipline, family men, instilled values in the players. Like the movie Moneyball, we have to replicate this in a coach within the money boundaries we are dealt

You are on the right track. If football goes, Troy will go. We need more graduates that earn more scratch. We need to pump out deep state public officials like the other two schools do. The game on the field is the tip of the iceberg.
