These are the names from The Athletic: Bill Clark, Tommie Robinson, Tee Martin, Jordan Lesley, Matt Moore, Alex Atkins, Dell McGee, Al Pogue, Reggie Barlow, Gasparato, Zac Etheridge Of that list Dell, Moore, Gaparato or Zac Etheridge(which I believe is from Troy).

Let’s expand the boundaries! Lot of good FCS coaches out there like North and South Dakota State if they are willing to leave. Troy ties ain’t the only denominator. Big programs go after the best. Ties are good but it ain’t the only thing. My two cents.

Promoting from within is fine in this case, if Craddock doesn’t want to continue to call plays. I don’t think he would want to. I’m way cool with him going to HC, bringing in an OC and promoting Polk to DC/CoDC with Bam.
If you want to bring in from the outside, Cadillac would be a great hire. Young and energetic Great recruiter Knows the state and South well Has no desire to call plays or be a coordinator

I think another thing that could become overlooked through all of this that i believe a lot of people would agree on: I hope we keep Rusty Whitt. If you know, then you know. We need to keep him and pay the man. Résumé speaks for itself and has been an integral part of the program since he arrived. We have had some of the healthiest rosters the past two seasons. His formula works!

My AU classmates say Cadillac is not HC ready. They say he would bring lots of hype, but he’s rich and not hungry enough to be a HC. I don’t know anything about him as a coach.

His formula works! Agreed! I only met him once at a restaurant, but when I shook his hand, I knew he is a winner. Sometimes that’s all it takes. I would love to keep Whitt. If he goes for some reason, I would like Jake Zweig as player development coach. www.jakezweig.com/about

No to Bill Clark.
A 65 year old guy with health issues does not fit our culture.
Joe Craddock or Caddy.

Whoever gets hired Only time will tell if they’re able to continue the momentum What I’m hoping is that the contract is a two-year contract that can be renewed after the first year yet is strong enough to keep other schools from poaching our coach. Troy is a great place to live with low cost of living but that’s not gonna fly anymore.

The contract needs to include a buyout that is significant enough to keep our coach. Suprised at the Sumrall buyout.

I have a new philosophy of coaching hires: “we will see” For every Neal Brown hire there is a Bald Menace hire. ADJones is a capable guy and even good AD can make a good hire that turns to ash, and the opposite. EVERY coaching hire has a level of the roll of the dice. So, We will see.
Since we all have an opinion, I truly hope Troy takes a world view and seeks out and interviews the very best candidates that are a fit. No prerequisite that the coach had to work here before or have Troy ties. But hey if the right fit did in fact work at Troy, great. But make the effort to make sure. Let’s not be lazy or pressed due to time, don't explore ALL options large and wide and just hire a current staffer. If we truly did an open and wide search and someone on the current staff is the best fit in their opinion, fine. We will see.
If Bill Clark wants to coach again. He is legit and a winner. He will take what has been established and make it even better.

Look what A&M paid just to make Jimbo go away. We need to pay enough for them to stay in the first place. Where is the China money going?

I have no affiliation with Troy. I was just curious as to who the new coach would be and found this thread.
I see Mark Hudpseth's name mentioned in this thread. The guy wins games, but he's problematic. At UNA, he dumped his wife for a student. His wins at ULL were vacated. He was forced out at Austin Peay supposedly over an affair with a player's mother. Yes, he just won a state championship at Gulf Shores, but there's an investigation over ineligible players.
Why hire a coach with a track record of scandal?

A little baggage never prevented someone from getting the Troy job. Our all time winningest coach, who our field is named after, had a little baggage. I'm not saying we have no morals, but we take the hard cases and win.
