Yall happy? First P5 bowl matchup for SBC? Would have rather had UCF or undefeated Liberty. Georgia Tech doesn't have much respectability around it's program. Action Network is projecting Troy will open as a 5.5 favorite. Might be the first time we've been favored vs a P5. Someone will have to look that up.
EDIT: I'm not MAD about it at all. Ready to send GT to the #TMTDM graveyard!
Liberty just found out how to get in the playoffs next season. #1 play no P5 schools in reg season #2 join C-USJoke

Wonder where the team hotel will be? We want to come up a few days early and see our daughter in Tuscaloosa who works in Bham.

The only reason Legion Field exists is the Magic City Classic, that’s the ONLY reason it’s still standing.

I’ve never been to Protective. It’s a dump? Isn’t it relatively new? What makes it a dump?

I’ve never been to Protective. It’s a dump? Isn’t it relatively new? What makes it a dump? It is new. If you enter the main gate to get to most of the seats you have to walk up three levels of ramps. Concessions are awful and don’t move quickly. No parking. It’s my most hated stadium. The Vet is a million times better.

Jonesy sees dollar signs every time I push my fat arse up the stairs to my seats.

No that was legion field lol. That still ticks me off. Never been to legion field but it can’t be worse than protective. It’s awful. Legion Field was constructed in 1927. By the time Protective Stadium was completed, The Old Grey Lady was 90+ years old and was showing her age. In addition to having part of it condemned (the upper deck on visitor's side was actually demolished), it was in general disrepair and rundown and it had ZERO amenities other than rest rooms and concessions. The neighborhood around it had suffered all of the ills of urban blight and it was no longer safe to attend games there, in spite of what the City of Birmingham says. At least Protective Stadium meets none of those criteria. On a personal note, one of Dad's sisters and her husband lived in Birmingham and when I was around 6 years old my 2 cousins and I spent a week with them. My aunt took us to see Legion Field. I don't know if the stadium at that time was always open, or if she knew someone, but on a summer's morning, in the middle of the week, we found ourselves inside Legion Field. For a 6 year old in 1967 who had NEVER seen a stadium larger than the small HS stadium in my home town, it was an amazing moment. I was star struck and thought i was in the greatest place on earth. Some 11 years later, my Dad and I went to see USC and Alabama play there. It was the first big time college football game I'd ever attended and I was sitting in the end zone seats, with Dad, about 100 ft from where Coach Bryant was leaning on the goal post. He was watching Alabama warm up, as was his pregame tradition. It saddens me to see what happened to a once great venue for southern football and the memory of my aunt taking me too see it and the memory of seeing my first college game with my Dad there will stay with me for as long as I have mental capacity to remember. Yes Legion Field became a horrible place to attend a football game but it wasn't always that way.

Enter the stadium from the back gates. Use the north gates. Can’t post pictures from the app but here is a link to the map with gates.

Another revenge game. This time from 2006.
Beg to disagree re: Respectability. Three years under a dunderhead Coach and Troy had no respectability either. Geoff Collins experiment about as bad as Clip Flimsey experiment at Troy. Tech program has 100 + years respect otherwise. John Heisman, Bill Alexander, Bobby Dodd, Bud Carson, Bill Fulcher, Pepper Rodgers, Bill Curry, Bobby Ross, Chan Gailey, George O'Leary, Paul Johnson?? SUSTAINABILTY is a key issue at academic institutions like Tech, Duke, Vanderbilt, Stanford and you name it. Respectability just not the issue there.

We better just win tomorrow before we worry too much about Tampa vs Bham and Liberty vs UCF. Message board posters do not influence the outcome of games. All a moot point now that we won our game but by [we] I really was saying I hope our players are more focused on winning than bowl destinations. Seems they were.
