This Saturday, our Trojans march into the heart of the battlefield, facing the United States Military Academy at West Point. A clash of titans, a battle for glory awaits us. We are the modern-day embodiment of the ancient Trojan Army, a force feared and revered, ready to stand tall and conquer.
In 2022, we faced the same opponent and emerged victorious, asserting our dominance with a triumph carved in stone: 10-9. The echoes of that victory resonate through history, reminding us of the power we possess, the resilience we exude.
This Army we face is mighty, formidable, but let us remember this: we are the Troy Trojans, warriors bred for greatness. Just as the Trojans of old faced adversity with courage and cunning, we shall face the challenge that lies ahead. Our running back, Kimani Vidal, a true hero of the turf, is on the brink of etching his name in the annals of Troy football. Only 257 yards stand between him and immortalization in the school's record books. What better stage than against an Army defense renowned for its formidable run-stopping prowess?
We shall run, and we shall conquer. Kimani, unleash your might upon that field. Let the clash of helmets and the thunder of cheers fuel your journey to greatness. Break through the defensive lines, leaving no doubt in the minds of our adversaries. Let our offensive charge be as relentless and indomitable as the warriors of old, as we strive to defeat formidable out-of-conference opponents.
Fans, let your roar shake the heavens! Let our presence be felt across the nation as we march into battle, united, unyielding, and destined for glory. We are the Troy Trojans, and on this day, we shall triumph! Onward to victory!
Troy 35 Army 14

Are your first two numbers inverted? Sumrall lets Craddock off the chain this week. We score big.

The Army game is the only game that could trip Troy up the rest of the year. Army has an ok defense. With our defense we win this one and go on to cruise the remainder of the year to the championship game.
And if you get a chance or opportunity, go to this game. It will be one of the best away games you will ever get to experience. West Point and stadium are gorgeous.

Monroe in Monroe is never cakewalk either. Tough stretch of games coming up.

I'm gonna say Troy wins 28-14. Army has not been that impressive, but they did play us close last year, and the game is in New York.

Troy opens a 4 point favorite. I like everyone’s predictions so far. Troy needs this win and then the off week to heal up any bruises and get ready for the west division stretch. It will be a tough road to navigate.

Army gave BC all they could handle. This will not be Arkansas State. ESPN showed the two teams gathering for Army’s alma mater after the game. Makes you proud to be an American.

My first real encounter with Army folk was when I took a job in Detroit, working at GDLS. During our first staff meeting with about 10 people, someone pulled out a can of Copenhagen, and started passing it around the table. From then on, every assignment was given like an order and every response was “Roger That”. Every meeting ended with “For God and Country “ I love Army folk.

Interesting side story here, Our DC Coach Gasparato was Co-DC and Safeties Coach at Army Knights during the 2020 season,
"Under Gasparato’s influence, the Knights ranked first in the nation in total defense allowing 275.3 yards per game and were second against the pass at 160.8 yards per game. Army was also second in the country in scoring defense at 14.8 points per game and finished ninth with 16 interceptions."

DL coach Eric McDaniel also coached at Army. S&C coach Rusty Whitt and Assistant S&C coach Colin Kenyon did as well.
Gasparato, McDaniel, & Whitt were each at Army for only one year -- Kenyon was there for four years.

In the grand scheme of things 90% + of FBS schools are a stepping stone. How many are truly a destination? Are we a smaller stepping stone, yes. Whether it’s in the athletic department or on the field we will eventually lose the really great ones. Some are being groomed to take the next step up and some are not. The people making the hires are extremely important to Troy’s continued and future success.

Does anyone know how practice went? Coach Sumrall said he was going to soak the practice field and keep the ball wet to prepare for the weather in West Point.
