We just got back from a week at Miramar Beach and I can attest to this. The rip currents last week were no joke.

Living in ole PCB, I can just tell ya that it's SO bad this year with this particular weather that has rolled through the past few weeks. We're ground zero with 8 drownings (one hasn't been reported yet so I think the news still has it at 7). I've watched the Sheriff Dept. helicopter hover over people low to shoo them out (looks like a Vietnam scene only with water), only for them to go right back in when the chopper moves down the beach. I have a good friend who is a head of one of the first responder depts. who have to respond. He's been spit at, cussed out, and nearly come to blows with 100 milers who come down and think they are 10' tall and bulletproof. It's tragic every time someone drowns but I'm starting to lose my sympathy with them when there is ZERO chance they DON'T know when to stay out of the water. They are just absolutely careless. And it is completely irrational! If we had 8 people shot at Gulf Coast Jam or out at Pier Park, everyone would leave and/or quit coming out of fear. But this!? It's as if it doesn't compute.
