Got to expand recruiting and get some players from out west. Softball is HUGE in California and you can see them play in summer tournaments. You can't win recruiting a 300 mile radius. South and ULL have girls from seven plus different states

We not going to mention the one and done in the tournament? I can only speak for myself, but I would guess that a lot of people are just tired of new coaches and the same results. Just never achieving potential. Yes, I know it's a first year coach, but people, I think, have stopped caring about WHY we get the same results, it's still the same results, we've come to expect it and we're just tired of it.

This is only the 3rd coach in the 30 years of softball. I don't know if you are referring to other sports, but I think you have to give Newell a chance.

RECRUITING!! Looked up three major softball powers, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Florida. Multiple states covered and with the exception of UF very few from in state. Oklahoma (9 players from California and three from Arizona), Tennessee (6 players from California), Florida (4 players from California). You don't go to CA to see them. You go to ASA Gold tournaments around the country to see them. If you want to continue to recruit a 300 mile radius that isn't even that populated then be content for above average to average and one and done in Tournament. It's that simple. If you don't try to recruit some west coast players you aren't going to win. The big programs already know this.

It’s not as easy as just saying come to Troy, especially as you said the big programs are getting them. You know what they are doing? Getting NIL deals for many of their players that we aren’t.

Is NIL that big a factor in softball? Curious

You do realize in year one, the new coaches are coaching the old players, especially in a sport like softball. Only so much roster work can be done.
