Guys,
I love baseball and our Trojans. Have attended Troy games for 45 years.
IMO, instant reply, and all the challenges, are ruining the experience. Every game we've played this season has lasted, at a minimum, 3 hours and 30 minutes. It has destroyed the pace of the game and takes away any momentum.
I understand the argument for 'getting it right,' but there is so much 'down-time' during the games that it has become ridiculous. I believe that these things (the umpires calls) work themselves out over a long regular season. Maybe consider replay for the conference tournaments and NCAA tourney.
It is very challenging for many fans, especially families with kids, to come to the ballpark and spend so much time watching a game, especially a 6 PM start time. I have seen quite a few folks just up and leave after 7 innings, even though most every game we've played has been close at the end.
MLB is now running games by using a clock, maybe we would fare better to take their lead and find a way to get games back to a respectable duration, like 2 and a half hours.
Thoughts?
Go TROY!

College baseball has a pitch clock, umpires keep it on the field. We've seen a college game (LSU) end because of a strike three due to the pitch clock. Troy's games have taken longer this year due to the amount of runs being scored so far. Home runs across the country at an alarming rate. Troy has played two games over 3:30 this year, one at 3:33 and one at 3:35 with the shortest at 2:42 and most calling between 3:13 and 3:20. You've also seen 25 combined errors, 76 walks and 23 hit batters in eight games, which will all raise the time of the game.
From a replay standpoint; I think they went to the monitor three times at baseball on Tuesday and once at softball on Wednesday and overturned 3-of-4 calls.
I think once you see arms settle in, scoring will go down, games will be much cleaner and will go back to the normal. Personally, I hate the pitch clock at the major league level, I think the college one is a little better from what I've seen. I'm in favor of replay and not a big fan of calls evening their way out as the season goes on as each game is important to the whole.

I don’t mind the length of games. I love being at the ballpark
