You provided some food for thought. XHCCL had more deficiencies than just losing some close ones. It's no secret on this board that if you talk to Gunnar's father, he will openly tell you his opinions of his coaching. He didn't have anything to say about XHCCL as a person and I don't think he speaks ill of anyone. A football coach from a 1A Alabama school sits in front of me at The Vet. He said something very interesting that made me gag but I couldn't deny it. He said if we had XHCCL as OC, we would be much better on offense. His assessment is that when we are successful in the second half, we are running XHCCL's offense.

I used to work with a guy, a good friend now that works in UCFâs program, recruiting department. We text often during football season. He knows my utter distaste for (The HC we don’t speak of) Lindsay for what he did to our program. He mentioned, âhey the guy you might not think he is a solid citizen but he has our offense doing well, we are nationally ranked, good chance to be the G5 rep in the NY6 bowl and has our transfer QB lighting it upâ I did the research and couldnât disprove what he was saying. Oh well. He gone from Troy, all ends well.

I found it interesting that in his presser (this week, I believe) HCJS addressed the “What if” question as it relates to the App game. He said that had TROY won tjat game, they might have lost one or more of the close ones we’ve managed to win. He didn’t excuse the loss, but he did acknowledge that the lessons learned from it have been valuable ones. I hadn’t thought about it in that way.

But everyone complained how he coached Gunnar and QBs at Troy! So which is it? Big difference when your one job each day all day is QBs and when QBs are just one fraction of your responsibility as a head coach.

(The HC we don’t speak of) was in over his head. It's one thing to be a good position coach or coordinator but it's another thing to lead an entire team. I think what was frustrating for us wasn't necessarily all the loses but it was after the losses (The HC we don’t speak of) would be asked what happened and he wouldn't know. We had no direction, no way to correct errors. I got the impression that (The HC we don’t speak of) gave up after his second year. This makes me grateful for Coach Sumrall. The man is a leader, someone who inspires. He knows where the issues are and works to correct them. I think our guys have always been winners we just needed the right person to show them that they are.

And thatâs ok. College football needs them too. (The HC we don’t speak of) Lindsay is gone from Troy and thank God for it. But I forgive and move on.

UCF is doing well but how much of the play calling is he doing? How much is Gus Doing? Maybe he is a decent OC but will he try to be a HC again? I hope he has learned from his mistakes on and off the field and I hope he doesn’t ruin another program ! I’m just happy that we have a coach that can make adjustments and put us at 8-2 instead of “ I’m really proud of this group of guys we have a great bunch of guys but we just come up short, Gonna have to watch a lot of video” and be at 5-5 or 4-6
