So, prior to 2004 schools could (and did) go back and change defensive stats based on game film, meaning that players would have almost twice as many tackles on Monday than they did on Saturday. Prior to my arrival here, the previous SID office was still doing this despite the rule change so you'll notice that some defensive stats in the media guide changed at some point where players after 2004 lost tackles as we reverted back to official NCAA numbers. All that to say, it's not fair to compare defensive numbers (tackles) now to those compiled before 2004. Thank you AP!

Just one more thought on the great achievement by Carlton. They have played college football for 153 seasons. No one has more tackles in FBS. That's all the great LB you can think of. Butkis, Nobis, Singletary, Lawrence Taylor. Wow just unreal.

He must have averaged over 20 tackles a game. I don't think Carlton's final record will ever be broken either

They will screw him again and give it to Stetson Bennett and it stinks Probably have never had two better candidates. Stetson is not half bad. I would choose Carlton due to ALL TIME RECORD. But the other guy is pretty impressive.
