Troy is on the rise. Kimber is coming to Troy. I predict it will be around Dothan population in 20 years. Current estimates (rounded): Dothan 70,000, Troy 18,000 For Troy to get 70,000 it would have to average 2,600 new arrivals a year for that 20 years. Not happening. Maybe 25,000 to 30,000. To discuss Wiregrass population changes, Dothan and it’s surrounding communities will grow. With bigger yet, the surrounding areas of Montgomery will have accelerated growth. There simply are not jobs in mass in Troy to grow in those numbers. Lockheed, Kimber are the beginning. We need to have companies move from commie places to Troy. Kimber is just the beginning

Seems to work for him. And the programs he administers. To paraphrase someone whose family was being hatcheted… Bless his heart. I understand your sentiment completely. I too, befriended several former HC's (Football, Basketball, Softball etc), Coordinators, Position Coaches etc, many were customers of ours. In retrospect, John Hartwell was hired by the Chancellor, then Chairman of the Sunbelt Board, to address Troy University's cellar position in the Annual BUBAS rankings of Sunbelt members Athletic programs. Obviously, to the Chancellor and any Management 101 student, leadership at the HC level was lacking or non-existent in several athletic endeavors. JH was hired to do a job, and 20/20 hindsight, he was responsible for improvement in many sports. Were all of his changes successful? No, but overall he accomplished his assignment while here. He has been very successful at Utah State as well, a catalyst for change there. It's a business BTW. "Hatchet" is one of the tools effective managers find necesarry to use from time to time.

I understand efforts have been made by the Troy/Pike County education system to address their needs. Starting salaries and wages there are competitive or better in most job classifications to my knowledge. Kimber relocated here 3+ years ago and moved corporate here shortly thereafter. The commies can go elswhere BTW.

I ask why and I get this: "Men don't want to work full time with us because they can't have time off for hunting season." Priorities.

I was thinking the same thing; but, on a different level. Why not build a Powerhouse here at Troy. I look at what Coach Bobby Bowden done at Florida State. Prior to CBB arrival, Florida State was similar to what we have here at Troy. I attended Troy in 1984 through 1988, the school, atmosphere, and facilities are far better and with the right Coach, he can turn Troy into a Powerhouse. As for completing for a National Championship, that's on the table with the 12 team playoff. Furthermore, its a great recruiting tool for athletes, you can tell them, you can come to Troy, play for a Conference Championship and also get the opportunity to play for a National Championship and have less wear and tear on your body. If CJS stays, I truly believe Troy will be the next Powerhouse. The Sunbelt Conference is getting stronger and stronger and each of you can agree, "We expect to WIN every game again. " I think it was way easier back then, less competition and recruits didn’t have that many options… Boise accomplished a lot but where are they now? They didn’t really benefit from it. Of, course the school is bigger now, nice facilities but they are still stuck in Idaho. Troy might be in a more favorable region but there is also so much more competition… Nowadays, so many schools are moving up to FBS conferences, most recently Jax St and now Kennesaw St (CUSA). It’s getting crowded with so many FBS schools in the region: Troy, UAB, GA St, GSU, USA, Jax St, and KSU. It used to be Troy, UAB, and USM. Now, add NIL as another factor: Even schools like UGA, Bama, Auburn are struggling to keep up with Texas, TAMU, Miami, Oregon, USC, etc… maybe when the BIG10 and SEC will eventually break away from the NCAA, it could create some new opportunities for mid-majors.

Dang facts and reality——aw shucks! Why can’t I be a modern progressive where those things don’t count?
