Right now he’s talking the talk not walking the walk tbh He's got three years of bad fundamentals and overall piss poor coaching to work out of this team. I think he's trying but everyone is still finding their feet. It's going to take awhile. Though he needs to instill in Craddock that you adjust your offense to the players you have not the ones you wish you had and don't keep running the same failed scheme over and over for almost two full quarters. If you listen to his post game presser that’s exactly what he said.

Until we can run the ball, we won't be back Anybody remember Jordan Chunn - Josh Anderson Chunn would tote the rock 30 times a game and we would punish people in the 4th quarter with the run game In my opinion, our RB group is very good, but our OL is not. Watson got blindsided very bad. I think we have a NFL coach at OL, which could mean he is not used to spending time on fundamentals. I know at our level, fundamentals should be down, but I saw a lot of sloppy play out of the OL. and not much push in the run game. Backs immediately having to dance around to try to make something out of nothing

It was said before the season started that the offensive line was a weakness.

I know at our level, fundamentals should be down, but I saw a lot of sloppy play out of the OL. Pop not teaching fundamentals may be the dumbest thing I’ve ever read on this board. There’s a lot of cleaning up this staff is having to do right now, but I promise you there’s not a bunch that has more to learn than the O-line. The fact that our QBs are not getting hit every flippin okay, shows the change that’s happened. As someone said earlier, we will continue to see positive change each week. Y’all have to chill out. Well it’s obvious they don’t perform fundamentally. Watson almost lost his life he was blindsided so bad. The OL are either too confused with over complicated assignments or they don’t practice fundamentals. If Pop (you refer to him like a buddy), not teaching fundamentals is the dumbest thing you have read on this board, then read this very closely: Cole Popovich is sucking it out there. He doesn’t have Tom Brady or 50 other NFL coaches to help him pull his weight. In my opinion, he owes Gunnar Watson a huge apology for almost killing him. Our running backs have no hole to run through. Cole’s I love me bio said he took a bunch of 200 pound lineman to a state title. It sure isn’t showing on the field. Troy has two main problems. 1. The OL is not performing. 2. The defense is afraid to be physical. They pull up on a blocker instead of running through the man and they wait for someone else to make a tackle. So get the OL some fundamentals and go live with the defense at practice and we start beating people bad.

I apologize for calling him Pop, I’ve heard others use that and it’s a lot easier typing an entire name. You’re right. I’m wrong. Clearly I’ve wasted a lot of time and money on this program. Let’s shut the entire freaking program down and play flag football. I’m sure he spent a lot of time on that “I love me bio”. He probably missed out on teaching fundamentals while he was writing it.

Jonesy! Step back from the ledge man. My post in no way says we should shut the program down. I’m simply pointing out our deficiencies as I see them. In fact, I say if we fix 2 things, we get better. Also, I do not dislike Cole Popovich. I’m just saying he isn’t getting it done so far. It is a fact that he is used to coaching the best of the best that are sound in every part of their position. At Troy, he has D1 caliber players that are not the same as NFL guys. His job is to make them better. He’s not doing that YET. We now have two full games of film. We will get better.

I heard another QB - a Heisman Trophy winning one at another red school in the state - say that if he takes a sack on a free releasing defensive guy that it’s probably his fault for missing a read. I am not saying that this is what happened on the play to which you’re referring, but it COULD be. I think the combination of QB, RB, receiver, and lone play could be improved. It’s not ALL on the line every time there’s a sack. Another case in point that same HTW QB took a horrible sack yesterday because a back let a UT LB free release. This is a new offense. They are all learning and gelling as teammates and an offensive unit. I have been hyper-critical of GW as qB-1. I would still like us to give Doedge (sp) more of a shot. I think his feel can help in those circumstances. And his arm was definitely as good as GW’s. Anyway, let’s not focus completely on one aspect. All of them need to step it up. We now have a coach (and staff) that appears to care. They were coaching their fannies off last night. I have a great deal of hope that it gets better. Go TROJANS!

I listened to HCJS after the game and I think he feels the same way we do! He knows we did not play well and we need to improve a lot! The O line was a concern and is still a concern which makes me want Doege in against App because I think he is more mobile! The running game is not good which is a direct relation to the O line! While we are chatting HCJS and company are at work trying to get this fixed and create a game plan to take down app This is a far cry from what we experienced for 3 years with Dip!

Doege - 3 star recruit Watson - 3 star recruit yall correct me if I am wrong So we are basing who starts on who had a better star rating in HS? Who gives a crap, I'll take a zero star like Levi Brown or Mike Turk if they win and get the job done

I am rooting for Gunnar because I think he has been through a lot but I don’t think he can extend the plays and I am not sold on our O line and I think we need someone more mobile!

If Doege had been here in the Spring he would be QB1. I think HCJS knows that. The team is still adjusting to the new system. You hear the guys talking about it if you listen. Talent is there, obviously, however the pieces haven’t been put together yet. Give it time. It’s plug and play at this point to make the proper adjustments. It’s hard to know where your at during fall camp bc your playing against the same individuals every single day. First few games are going to expose weaknesses and strengths. We’re going through a phase and transition. Easier said than done if you’ve ever played the game before.
