I’m genuinely curious when we will get back on the level we used to be at and that Marshall and App State are with being Giant Killers and being competitive against top teams

Guys, it took XHCNB until the New Mexico State game to reveal we were a good team. We will be competitive, but if it is in time for App and Marshall, I do not know.

As others have pointed out here before, we're still playing with a lot of "TKGs". And the former-coach-who-shall-not-be-named probably did more damage to the program than the even the three straight losing seasons indicates.

Coach Sumrall has told our alumni group he expects and intends to compete in and win every single game. I will take him on his word.

I think the next time the NCAA has to seriously consider offering a death penalty to a program, they should just make them hire (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of). Pretty much the same result: seven years wasted.

Until we can run the ball, we won't be back
Anybody remember Jordan Chunn - Josh Anderson
Chunn would tote the rock 30 times a game and we would punish people in the 4th quarter with the run game

Guys, the more I hear about the last three years, the more I fully understand this rebuild / rebrand / redo / refresh / reverse that this staff is having to do is gonna take time. There’s only so much that can be done during off-season workouts. The positive is that the last two weeks, we’ve seen major adjustments after halftime. We’ve been missing that for a long time. The season starts this week. Let’s go!!!

Right now he’s talking the talk not walking the walk tbh He's got three years of bad fundamentals and overall piss poor coaching to work out of this team. I think he's trying but everyone is still finding their feet. It's going to take awhile. Though he needs to instill in Craddock that you adjust your offense to the players you have not the ones you wish you had and don't keep running the same failed scheme over and over for almost two full quarters.

1 thing I feel confident about is coach Sumrall hates to lose. Previous coach was just happy to have a head coaching job win or lose. Now will we win every game doubtful but it won't be for lack of trying. Coach said in his post game presser he was going to start working for app in about a half hour. Noone wants to bring troy back more than him.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neal_BrownHCNB went 4-8 in his opening season mainly because he was left with a mess. The mess was created because Larry was allowed to stay too long. Who was the driving force behind that bad decision? DT believes its the same family that was behind the bad hiring of ole "Great group of guys" (The HC we don’t speak of). HCJS will right this ship. Reforming these "TKG's" could be a painful process however. I like catching App at the time we are catching them. We want them while they are busy patting themselves on the back. Look at us after big wins through history. 100% of the time every time we $h!t the bed the next game.

But, major lack of talent and major lack of discipline are one in the same. Pretty much this. You can have all the talent in the world but it still has to be trained and taught to work as a cohesive team. We SHOULD see game to game improvement even if it doesn't immediately translate to wins. If by game six we aren't looking noticeably better regardless of wins, then we know we have real coaching problems.

If by game six we aren't looking noticeably better regardless of wins, then we know we have real coaching problems. Texas is a prime example of what you are talking about in these posts. For years UT has had good recruiting classes only to fail fairly consistently. Their game yesterday against Satan and the elephants (that's their mascot right?) Maybe (and that is a big maybe) things will be getting better. Texas also has THE BIGGEST alumni interference of all schools probably due to the money involved. But the point is, discipline and cohesiveness are not only good for the military but for TEAMS on any kind no matter even when your talent is not that of your competition. Likewise, your competition can defeat or out perform you by being more disciplined, cohesive, and confident even when you have more talent. Our last head coach left a very sour taste in the mouth of everyone including the fans. If there ever was a real wake up to perform at your best, these two coming weeks are for sure. Here is to Troy playing to OUR very best (and a quick recovery to Carlton and KJ) Go Troy!!!

Until we can run the ball, we won't be back Anybody remember Jordan Chunn - Josh Anderson Chunn would tote the rock 30 times a game and we would punish people in the 4th quarter with the run game In my opinion, our RB group is very good, but our OL is not. Watson got blindsided very bad. I think we have a NFL coach at OL, which could mean he is not used to spending time on fundamentals. I know at our level, fundamentals should be down, but I saw a lot of sloppy play out of the OL.

Expectations on Jon Sumrall were and are sky high. He will have to deal with those and carry them. Look at this message board during that time, his anointment as the coming savior to Troy was/is sky high. I believe Jon will succeed. He has a plan. I understand it may not be as fast as even I want but let’s practice patience. To your point about yesterday, yes that team was NOT prepared. But we made adjustments and won. Time to move on. If it happens again, then we look at why it repeated. And decide if it’s fixable.

There’s a lot of cleaning up this staff is having to do right now, but I promise you there’s not a bunch that has more to learn than the O-line. The fact that our QBs are not getting hit every flippin okay, shows the change that’s happened. As someone said earlier, we will continue to see positive change each week. Y’all have to chill out.
