ULM director of athletics Brian Wickstrom announced the beginning of Phase I of the Football Endzone Facility on Friday night at the annual Outback Classic Kickoff Dinner. The new facility is the first athletic facility in ULM history to be funded completely by private donations and it is the first athletic facility enhancement since 1979. A total of 31 donors, comprised of individuals, families and companies, combined to pledge three million dollars for Phase I of the facility. t.co/5LnvmEXnDrI think I'll have a beer.

The word on the street is that we will break ground on the the new Endzone Facility immediately after the 2015 season. The funding has been procured for around 20M, but that still puts us a a few million short. If we added an additional pledge for 3M, we would probably see construction start after this season. So, if anyone hits the lotto tonight please call Mr. Hartwell at (334) 670-3482 to make your tax free contribution.

Just curious as to "IF" a certain company that donated is comprised of some bearded men? That would make sense. t.co/5LnvmEXnDrI think I'll have a beer.

Sadly it has taken far too long for us to break ground. Each day lost is a day we get further behind our conference mates.
I think I'll have a beer.

When ULM is catching and passing you, you have a problem.

How much are we spending on the video boards?? Although nice, would those funds been better used towards the field house?

As soon as you break ground on the new endzone building you're going to have to a video board in place elsewhere. This seems like the first logical step. Also the board on 231 was long overdue to be replaced. It's the first thing you see when you turn off of 231 to go to campus. I think I'll have a beer.

At this point, something is better than nothing... you're buying time until you break ground. You can still use it as a recruiting aid...

Looking at the artist rendering of the ULM project it looks nothing like ours. For one thing it sits in the corner, is only 11,000 sq feet and looks like no stands attached. If we wanted to go this route, IMO we would have it now.

Could we have done this? Possibly get the locker room and offices done and then do the stands? I don't know, it just seems like we are trying to do it all at once, which may or may not be the right way??

I don't know, it just seems like we are trying to do it all at once, which may or may not be the right way?? Our locker room in the new building would take up over half the new facility at ULM. We aren't cutting corners. Doing a facility in phases gives you no real timetable on completion. We are doing it the right way. My frustration comes from the Steve Dennis era and complacency among some of the fans in regard to what it takes to be successful. I think I'll have a beer.

I plan to make a donation in Aug, and look into an additional level of giving on a monthly basis. I've given before, but I'm compelled to do more.
