MOBILE, Alabama -- South Alabama has dismissed running back Cris Dinham from the team for what head coach Joey Jones described as a "violation of team rules.'' The Lithonia, Ga., native played one season for the Jaguars after transferring from Independence, Kan., Community College. The 5-foot-10, 205-pounder had 57 carries in eight games last season for South Alabama, gaining 234 yards (third-best on the team) for a 4.1 yards per carry average. He had two rushing touchdowns. Dinham also had six catches for 30 yards, but no scores. He was expected to be part of the mix at running back again this season, though last season's leading rusher, Jay Jones, emerged from spring drills as the starter. Dinham is the second running back to be dismissed from the team since the end of spring drills. Kaleb Blanchard, a 6-0, 200-pounder redshirt freshman from Denham Springs, La., was suspended prior to the start of spring practice and dismissed from the team following the completion of spring drills, also for a violation of team rules.
