I can’t make it, but for anyone considering going, GO. It is such a great experience and your chances of running into the who’s who of Troy are good.

I can't make it tomorrow night, but I will be there Friday with my wife and two of our friends. I expect to have trouble talking above a whisper by the time the clock reads 00:00. I will be shocked if a new attendance record isn't set. HCSC has made personal visits to the Frats on campus, urging them to be there. In addition, there's a HUGE social media push as well as numerous ticket incentives (discounted prices, 2 complimentary tix for season ticket holders who desire them, free food...all kinds of stuff). Join us for a night of fun as we hopefully watch a really good basketball team fight for the conference title.

Wish I was closer to make some games Well there is a band party on the square that night as well, but I will be in the arena It bothers the mess out of me when the city and univeristy do things like this. In this case, the city is hosting a band party downtown at the same time as this game that has huge implications on national television. Earlier this year and many times in the past, the university has had events at the exact same time as ball games. I'm not a fan of competiting against ourselves.

Agree that the timing couldn't be worse for Troy Basketball. This game was originally scheduled for this Saturday, but was very recently rescheduled for ESPN TV. The City of Troy likely made plans for the Mardi Gras event months in advance. Whaddya gonna do???

Since the original schedule had the two games scheduled for Thursday and Saturday, I believe no one is at fault for the scheduling conflict. Except maybe the head chief all powerful schedule changer what's in charge.

As Corn pointed out Asberry was on fire. When someone was that hot it can lead to upset wins against anyone. Compared to the UTA game Troy was so much better. If Troy plays that well it could well be these two teams playing for the Big Dance. Perhaps they won’t be quite that hot on that night. But they are a pretty good BBall team.

But they are a pretty good BBall team. Just received a copy of SBC Championship Brackets. Troy and Texas State both draw first round byes and start play in the Quarterfinals on Saturday the 5th. If both Troy and Tx State win, they meet in the semifinals on Sunday the 6th.

We beat them handily earlier this season in San Marcos. They can be had, but not if we shoot 27 % from 3, less than 40% from the floor, and 73% from the line. We couldn't buy a bucket last night and a lot of that had to do with the relentless defense of TX State. We couldn't run the baseline, we couldn't get our perimeter game on track and we couldn't buy a 3. Even though it went both ways, I don't know that I've ever watched a BB game that had that much body contact in it. Players on both sides were knocked and pulled to the floor without fouls being called and Effe was mugged for all of his 33 minutes. Heck, one joint possession was called right in front of me with Effe on the floor with the TX State player laying on his back and reaching over his shoulders and around his neck (all of you old timers think Ken Lucas sleeper hold), and of course, there was no foul and TX State had the possession arrow at the time. It is what it is, and I get that these games are played at a very fast pace and not everything can be called, but the officiating for these games leaves a lot to be desired. If We run into the same combination of factors that impacted last night's game again in Pensacola, it may be a short stay. We have to make shots, plain and simple.

A Coach Cross Mindset
"They hit shots. All the credit goes to them. I thought we played really good defense and played as hard as we could. We scrapped, but at the end of the day, this was a shot-making game. Mason Harrell and Caleb Asberry hit big shots. It was phenomenal. The last six or seven threes they made, we had hands in their faces. You saw it on our guys' faces. It was like a dagger. Our guys just looked and shrugged their shoulders. Hats off to them. That's why they won the championship."
"We're going to need every single one of these guys come tournament time. We got plenty of time to prepare, and I think this is a team that is capable of winning it all."

We didn't give up. TX State shot the ball better than us and in the end, their defense kept us from playing our game. It was fun, it was electric, but we just got beat. Asberry was a shooting machine and his 3s weren't gimme 3s, if there is such a thing. He was firing away from well behind the arc.

The Officials appeared to have a "Let 'em Play" approach to the game. Likely a great TV game for E$PN? Point on, Efe took a beating, yet shot 5/5 FT, 9 RB and 58% FG shooting. Our supporting cast needs to step it up.
