Cole Horton, QB out of Panama City to commit. Didn't lock him up although he apparently had a great visit. Great commitments otherwise. Just wish we could bring in a real dual threat at QB that hasn't lost development time due to XHCXX.

Help me understand.
What is special about him? I don't know much about Horton. I saw where his only offers are from North Alabama, Faulkner, Weber International, Allen University, Myrtle Beach College.

Three-sport superstar, very athletic with a big arm (QB and pitcher), with roots on the gulf coast. He's got the second coming of the #SilversBullet written all over him. Check out his stats. Obviously a special player with that intangible of understanding how to win through a variety of sports. To each their own I just sense a hidden gem in this guy.

The Stetson Bennett saga has everyone toting every low star / overlooked recruit as the next superstar. I always say recruiting is a roll of the dice a lot of times, but they usually get it right. That said, there will always be Stetson Bennett or our very own Carlton Martial type stories, but in the big scope of things they are rare.

He's from my hometown and played with my nephew. Back in 2016 (I believe) I reached out to CNB via twitter saying that Stetson was a stud qb but hadn't gotten many looks due to size and being from a very small school. Stetson thanked me for the mention, but never heard anything from the staff. The rest is history. I think everyone puts too much into how many stars someone has and not enough into how much heart and dig a player has (such as Carlton).

We listed 6 QB's in the house including Brandon Silvers, Sawyer Smith and Kaleb Barker. Gardner Minshew was at Troy around that time but never Officially listed on the roster (that I could find). Talk about a miss.

Talk about a miss. Not a miss. Gardner graduated high school early in hopes of stealing a starting role from guys who had been in college awhile. He was good, but he wasn’t that good and rightly found himself near the bottom of the depth chart. He was the one who decided that he wouldn’t stick around after one spring and went JUCO before blowing up under Leach. Glad for his success, but coaches made the right decision for the time. We did alright without him.
