Saw where Nix is leaving Auburn. Y’all think he comes to Troy or another SBC school like South or goes to another P5? I don’t necessarily want him but I’m not opposed either. I’m
Edit: I didn’t see a few of you discussing this until after I started this thread.

Best to not pollute the coaching staff thread with this… As someone else said, if he’s able to be the same scrambler he was, I’m not against giving him a shot. But not if it means bringing in his dad to coach. I’m fully against that.

Bo to UCF and Cinci rumors. However, there is still the Pat Nix (OC) rumor.
Bo is a great QB. He was the main reason why Auburn beat LSU, Arkansas, and Ole Miss this year. Auburn fans just don’t want to acknowledge it.

I'd say he probably doesn't wind up at Troy, considering we don't have an OC at the moment. He doesn't know what the offense will look like.
But who knows...

Many of you complained about wanting a better QB option, but then one from the SEC, who really had a solid year, opens up and you think it's a terrible idea??

I think the best approach will always be to select the best option no matter where they are from.

There are a large number of QB in the transfer portal. This staff should have no issues bringing in a talented fit from these options. That’s if they believe one is needed.

Him and Tez Johnson would immediately be a connection for offensive production.
I mean geez... Bo Nix gives us a better chance to win than Powell or Watson.
Career Stats:
Bo Nix - 7,251 pass yards / 39 TD's / 16 INT's / 859 rush yards / 18 rush TD's
Gunnar Watson - 3,888 pass yards / 24 TD's / 11 INT's / -147 rushing yards / 1 rush TD
Taylor Powell - 1,655 pass yards / 8 TD's / 8 INT's / -102 rush yards / 1 rush TD
Now tell me who would probably be the best QB in the room. One had stellar stats against SEC defenses. The other two had average or subpar stats against Sun Belt defenses.

Now Gunnar and Taylor both had ( The one who shall remain nameless) as their coach for the past year. That ought to be half the difference. (maybe not but it sure did not help)

Gunnar Watson is just un-athletic.
I don't know that a better QB coach could make enough of a difference.

We need to find a HS qb who fits our system and that we can build a program around, get a system in place that will keep him here. I would love to see us get a athletic qb who we can play for 3-4 years and have him mature. Makes a difference having a qb like Brandon Silvers that you can play for four years

Many of you complained about wanting a better QB option, but then one from the SEC, who really had a solid year, opens up and you think it's a terrible idea?? How has his recovery gone? (I think someone said he broke his ankle?) Old stats don't matter if he's - for lack of a better word - fragile physically. We've had some really good but injury prone QBs go through our program. That would be my only concern with him is that lingering injury would create issues. Don't really want another glass QB.

It happens, doesn't make anyone a glass QB

If we could get Bo without his pop being included in the package, I’d be OK with that. It would give an incoming guy a year to RS and learn the offense. I could be wrong, but I don’t see Bo in a TROY uni without Patrick being on staff.

Unfortunately Taylor nor Gunner is the answer, respectfully. Agreed. And I believe Bo Nix had a fractured ankle. He actually played on it for a while after he fractured it. I'm no medical expert, but it seems like a fractured ankle would be easier to overcome and be back to normal than, say, an ACL tear?

The fibula, which is the bone that was fractured in Bo’s ankle, is not the primary weight bearing bone of the lower leg. The fact that he played on it after it was broken would indicate it probably wasn’t displaced, making the repair simple and uncomplicated. The bone should mend in 6-8 weeks. Barring a complication such as infection, he should be good as new before August.

Would love to have a QB that’s a threat to run it every play. If Troy signs a small class this year, is the 25 signee limit the same for next year or can Troy sign beyond that number?
