Another transfer in safety Koby Perry ended up being an FCS All American. He is now in the portral again. Would be sweet if we could get him back at Troy.

Seeing Dell recommit to staying felt good. Makes me sick thinking about losing Marcus.

Geez.
I could be wrong, but I believe Marcus Jones may have gone in the portal regardless. From what I understand, he wanted to be on a bigger stage to showcase his skills.

I remember XHCNB telling a story about Bobby Bowden visiting Troy and telling XHCNB that he could “win here for a long time”. The old man was probably correct and I wonder if XHCNB remembers that conversation as he struggles at WVU.

I know coach wants to win, but taking the “chance” to go to WVU from a financial standpoint was a no brainer. Making that kind of money with a contract for several years (and being smart with the money) can set up his family for the rest of their life. From that point of view I doubt he regrets leaving Troy.

Financially, he's got it made, especially with his extension he received. And I'd have to argue that Morgantown is a prettier place to live than Troy. But man the WVU fans are giving him hell... something he never had to deal with in Troy.

There were a lot of things going on behind the scenes. I know the family personally. Couldn’t be happier for Marcus. A great player and a better person.

I have several friends who are WV fans who really like Neal and are supporting him and being patient , however there are sever WV fans that I have run into that can’t stand him and didn’t like it when he was hired and said he came from a high school program! Needless to say I educated them about Troy as well an NB. I also welcomed them to call their athletic dept and schedule us for an easy non conference win like LSU Nebraska, and others did! Point is WV fans are pretty split on NB!

Neal and family were very happy in Troy, both times. He can take the heat from WVU fans but I can tell you where his family would rather live!!

I didn't understand why they would leave "civilization" for Troy until I had a few career years under my belt. Now, I dream of sitting on my porch and going to watch football practice, or attend every home baseball game because you don't have to do anything you don't want to any longer. I am working the wife little by little. I want to retire in Troy just like my parents. I want to tutor the football players as my father did... give them the same speech he gave about doing the work for themselves and it will reward you for a lifetime. I love Troy and I want to be in Troy.

Exactly, been saying this forever. Why he don’t necessarily have to compete with the high pay of P5 coordinator. Coaches know they can come to the SunBelt, win and get that generational family contract. Look at Billy Napier, like 09 said if he sets up his investments correctly his grandkids will never have to work a day in the lives.

Because he won at Troy. The solution to get the hillbillies off his back is in his hands and it’s just one thing. Love Neal Brown, he good, my man. But I never feel sorry for these coaches. They have zero problems cashing those million dollar checks. They know what they are getting into. We wouldn’t accept him going 6-6 or 5-7 for three straight years why should they ?

It's a hard, harsh, results driven career. As is the case in any such endeavor, success can be life altering, but fail to produce leads to lose of job (I've experienced that). As someone else said, he and his family should be set, financially, for life whenever his time at WVU is up. I wish him the best, but if he can't get them over the hump, I suspect his time there will soon end.

Going to be interesting to see what Billy Napier does at UF. Personally I don't think he will win but the money and perks he has he won't care. Use of a private jet for family up to 6 times a year and unlimited for school functions, two luxury cars, a luxury sky box for friends a family, $7,000,000 a year. $150,000 for just making a bowl game.
