Just heard coach Davern Williams was not retained... A Trojan.. A letter winner and alumni... One of us... A coach that bleeds black, silver, and cardinal... How are you going to say in one breath I want all former players to come back and help rebuild but let go one the most respected fromer Trojan players of all time. One of the only guys that connected with us former players... I was excited about this new guy but now you can count me out... #disappointedTrojan #norespectforthehometeam Facts matter. Perhaps there are facts that will come out. Patience my fellow Trojan. Better days ahead.

I think he did a decent job, but if we can do better I'm all for it. Solomon and Jibunor were lights out, but I'm not sure how much of that was Bam's work. I was waiting for the defensive end position to come on strong like the bandit position did, but that never really materialized. Outside of Choloh, there really wasn't a standout defensive tackle this year. There is room for improvement.

Too bad, but I think we all want the best coaches regardless of their Troy affiliation. Saying we want former players involved doesn’t mean we have to hire them.

I never took that statement in his speech to mean that he wants to hire them. He wants their input, advice, and to meet the current team.

Best man for the job or best Trojan? Just win baby! I'd say best man for the job. I liked Davern Williams, and think he is a great person and great representative of Troy. If there is an opportunity to get someone that can take the D-Line to another level though, then I'm for it.
Sumrall knows more about these coaches than we do.
And FWIW, Will Choloh announced on Twitter a couple of days ago he was staying at Troy. So maybe the players are okay with it?
LB Jayden McDonald also announced he was staying the same day.

HCJS is already having an impact on current players... as for Williams, best man for the job needs to be there regardless of affiliation

Jeremy Rowell was a Troy guy... did anyone have an issue seeing him go?

Who is XIII supposed to be? Or better question, why is it supposed to matter to me? Serious question too; I don't mean it as an insult. New member and first post. Started this thread but I only see the post as a quote. Color me confused. I'm getting the insinuation that they're a former player with some supportive influence to give or withdraw, is that correct?

Evidently a unhappy camper.

Please tell me the reason we should keep Brandon Hall as the DC, I could see him as a position coach but he is not consistent when it comes to play calling and if it had not been for the talent we would have been in really bad shape. We need someone in charge of the talent we have that can develop, mentor and hold them accountable. I do not dislike Brandon but if we want the type of defense we have had in the past , we need to put a DC in place that can get us there, Brandon is not that coach at this time

But people want to look at the games we were blown out and say “man he can’t coach and we let teams drop 45 on us!” Look at that game against app. I believe we held the ball for a grand total of 14 minutes…. It’s hard to coach players so you have a good defense, it’s even harder when you need them to learn how to participate in a marathon as well. Our secondary needs help. No doubt about that. But our front seven played an incredibly consistent game. If you looked at the time of possession for the ENTIRE season, you wouldn’t believe we finished in the top 25 overall on defense… WE HAVE TO CLEAN THE OFFENSIVE HOUSE!!! Get rid of Bummer Watson and every coach that sniffed our offense.

Hoping we name a OC soon. We need drastic help on offense and a exciting new OC could help with the portal and HS recruits

Our defense played their A** off this past year. Did we get beat on so e exposive plays? YEP We're we out of position at times? YEP Did we time and time and time again give our offense a chance to win? ABSOLUTELY!!! HOWEVER our offense was 116th (out of 130) IN TIME OF POSSESSION, ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTEENTH!!! We cannot expect to our defense to keep giving our offense the ball and they turn it over or go three and out. We went 3 and OUT ON SEVEN STRAIGHT POSSESSIONS (someone fact check me please) against App. Not the only game where we went STRETCHES of consecutive possessions where we went three and out or turned it over.... Defense was not the issue AT ALL! Please understand I am not telling at you with the all caps, I'm trying to emphasize what I think are glaring discrepancies within our program. But we need some consistency in this turnover,Jon has been gone for four years or so, and the best bridge, IMO, for that transition is by keeping the absolute best part of our team, which, again IMO, was the Defense, FAR AND AWAY... You asked for reasons, those are some of mine!!

They were an outstanding first half defense and played hard the whole game. I think HCJS will have a hard time finding a better DC than Brandon Hall but I guess we will see if he keeps him or brings in a new one

Our defense is probably Top 15 or Top 10 in the nation had we had an offense that could've put together drives and kept the D off the field. It's pretty incredible what the D was able to do... because the offense kept putting them in a bad position ALL THE TIME. I don't blame DC Brandon Hall... the D was good enough to win the SBC... the offense was bad enough to make us last place.

What if he has a better person coming in? Not coming to Troy. CDW played here and put his heart and soul into the program. By that logic Shula was a better coach than Saban at Bama. Playing here has nothing to do with being a good coach here. Most coaches outside of (The HC we don’t speak of) pour their heart and soul into their work to be successful

Playing here has nothing to do with being a good coach here. Most coaches outside of (The HC we don’t speak of) pour their heart and soul into their work to be successful As a former player, I hate to see a fellow Trojan go. However, we hired HCJS to put HIS staff together; execute HIS plans; develop HIS team; and bring winning to OUR program. I was here between Maddox and Blakeney. Coaching changes happen. And who knows, it could be that CDW elected to take a better job - that also happens all the time. We will dislike some of his moves, love some, and be neutral on others. Letâs give him a chance! He was my #2, but Iâm definitely now 110% HCJS - all his moves. He could be Trump or Biden for me rn ⦠he gets my 110% support. Weâll evaluate the output in about 10-12 months.
