Does anyone have any thoughts on a potential staff?
Reagan as OC? Three guys I’d like to see on staff in some capacity are Al Pogue, Evan McKissack, and Trey Dunbar.

Cornelius Williams was a fine recruiter as well. That's one of the names I would love to see back with Brian Blackmon. Hate he was used as a scapegoat at Auburn. I wonder if CJS will try to keep Brandon Hall.

One thing that we absolutely have got to do is get a recruiter for Florida. This just isn't me talking these are High School coaches with Troy connections that never see a Troy coach

100% keep Al Pogue.
Bring Cornelius Williams back as well.
Davern Williams as DL coach seemed like it worked out well, too.
Other than that, IDK.

Also hard to argue not having Davern after leading the nation in sacks and tackles for loss most of the year. Maybe Rusty and Brandon Hall, but I'd limit the amount of holdovers to as little as possible.

One thing about Neal's dream team staff: They were experienced. And many of them spent extensive time coaching P5 football. In some cases, we had guys that were coordinators in their previous jobs, as position coaches on Neal's staff. They knew what they were doing, and I hope that's the case with Sumrall's staff as well. I will say though, Neal got very lucky with Vic Koenning, and that doesn't come around often.

Bring Levi Brown in to coach QBs. He’s at Valdosta State.

Bring Levi Brown in to coach QBs. He’s at Valdosta State. Would love that too but would be difficult. One of the reasons he went there was to support his wife's career of being a sports anchor in Atlanta. EDIT: He's not at Valdosta, coaching HS in atlanta

I believe Levi is no longer with Valdosta State. Seems like I’d seen he was coaching at a HS closer to Atlanta. I agree that it might be hard to get him come back to Troy right now. I wonder if VK would be on the table for DC? I’m not sure about the history or if he would even be interested but he seemed to be one heck of a coach!

Interesting. Well I'll admit fault on that. I thought thats why he's there. Learned he is not coaching High school is Atlanta like someone else mentioned.

I wonder what the chances are, if any, of Vic Koenning returning as DC.
I know that's wishful thinking, but I wonder how much that ridiculous "issue" at WVU affects his ability to coach college still.
I'm also not sure if he's mad at Troy for not hiring him to be HC last go-round.
Thoughts??

Same with current players who weren't here his last time.

When you got running backs in your back yard putting up 3,000 yards and Troy doesn't so much as look their way it's pretty ridiculous. Just my opinion.

I remember that he said Troy offered the HC job when Neal announced, and he wanted to take over, but his wife said he should go with Neal so he decided to do what was best for his family. I respect that and I respect all VK did for us. I hate that he carries “baggage” as light as it might be. All respect though for him and what he did to bring back TMTDM.

Everyone to some extent has baggage. It boils down to if CJS is going to let this deter him or go with a solid coach that is a proven winner.
