Has there ever been a time when five big brands have been open at the same time?
The scramble is real and with the first stone thrown into the pond yesterday at USC, the ripple effect will be felt far and wide...not just for Head Coaches, but for assistants.
It will effect TMTDM in some form or fashion, you watch.
Oh yeah, I forgot SWLa is open too. Them and Mrytle Beach think they are in that mix as well...ha! I can appreciate NWCarolinas attitude, not these fly-by-night posers.

Have a good season, let the other programs bid on your services. I really, really do not like the direction of college football right now. How about this rule. If you are a coach and sign a four year contract, you have to stay all four years (unless you are fired). If you are a player that signs a four year scholarship, you stay. Personally I would like to see it go back to how it was when I played (one year renewable), if you didn't perform or got in trouble you were shown the door. Both coaching contracts and scholarships are a legal binding contract. You sign on at a service academy and graduate you agreed to serve five years in active duty in exchange for your education. If you sign a scholarship you agree to play football, maintain your grades, stay out of trouble in exchange for a free education.

That's why they have buyouts, but if the buyout is too punitive, the coach might not sign it. Heck, this last round, LSUA&MC is buying houses - in both South Bend and a new one in Baton Rouge...at above market prices. Same with USC. Players have more options too. The portal. Licensing agreements. I don't mind it. It's called capitalism. Small programs can thrive in this environment or just quit. Gotta be creative and forward thinking.

In my professional life, I have the option to stay as long as I wish or go... I'm for freedom.

As a former fat lineman I object. All games played at night and no kickoff until the temperature is below 50° LOL

It would be like taking out a 30-year mortgage and then just telling the bank I'm only going to pay 5 years of it. I'm a right wing conservative politically but I'm just having a problem with all this transfer portal and leaving every year
