Let it begin! Who is on the official short list, and who do you want?

Troy University Director of Athletics Brent Jones announced Sunday that the university is making a change in leadership for the football program and parting ways with head coach (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of). (The HC we don’t speak of) had an overall record of 15-19 during his three seasons at Troy. Defensive coordinator Brandon Hall will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
Well, we've completed the search for next game anyway.

Well, we've completed the search for next game anyway. All I want for Christmas is a "W" in Atlanta, and a "W" in our bowl game.

Jon Sumrall should get another look Matt Moore ? And whoâs going to coach our game this weekend?? There are many on this board who's opinion is held in high regard that really like Jon Sumrall. I'd be ok with it for that reason alone. He's from same Kentucky program that Neal Bron came from, and he's no longer just a position coach. They are a really good program right now considering what they are able to recruit. Maybe bring Vic Koenning back and keep Al Pogue and Rusty Whitt.
I have no idea about Matt Moore's head coaching ability. One thing I'd like to see though, is a head coach just be a head coach. It worked for Larry. When (The HC we don’t speak of) came in and said he was going to the head coach, the QB coach, and call plays on Saturday, I had some serious doubts as to how a first time head coach would pull that off.

How about Josh Niblett? Proven, consistent winner at the highest high school level.

The answer, my friend is "Not well. Not well at all."

I think we need to build on the foundation we currently have, which is centered around defense. I think the right call is Ansley at the moment. I think we need someone with a fire that they can instantly light up in players no matter what coach it is. I want to see enthusiasm and a winning mentality no matter what. And a guy with “next level” ties to entice kids to the next level would also be nice.

How about Josh Niblett? Proven, consistent winner at the highest high school level. Absolutely not. If Troy hires our next head coach direct from any high school, it'd be a clear sign we are not taking this seriously.

I know that not everyone will agree with the hire, whomever it is, but D Ansley is a guy that I think the entire TROJAN Nation could get behind. That was never the case with (The HC we don’t speak of). When Neal Brown was hired, there were those that thought he wasn't the right guy, but they got behind him supported him. Those who disagreed with his hiring never did that. It's important that whomever is hired is someone that the fan base can get behind, even if he isn't a unanimous choice.

Iâm 100% on Jon Sumrall. That hasnât changed. Whether I like the next hire or not I will support him just like I did (The HC we don’t speak of). I never cheered for (The HC we don’t speak of) to lose.

Concerning Ansley, can someone please explain this:
“ In 2018, he was hired by the Oakland Raiders to be their defensive backs coach, becoming the highest-paid defensive backs coach in the NFL.[9] His unit improved from five interceptions in 2017 to 14 in 2018.
The following year, he was hired as the defensive coordinator at Tennessee. His defense improved from 77th in total defense to 23rd.[10] He was not retained after the 2020 season due to the pay for play scandal.”

Who was 2nd place to (The HC we don’t speak of)? Was that person 1st place until the Hawkins on the hill intervened?
Is this person available now? Have they been mentioned here? Might things have been different if the Hawkins just stuck to academics?

I don’t think Ansley was ever directly implicated in it. The staffers list their positions when Heupel came on board.

Jeremy McLain is the AD there. Figure that out?

As long as Troy does the right thing and get the right guy and not use the good ol boy system like they have in the past, then fans will be happy.

Just heard from a source that Sumrall had an unofficial conversation with with a Troy fan that I will not disclose... but Coach Sumrall was asked point blank if he was interested in the job and the reply was affirmative.

I’m interested in becoming the director of NASA, that would be cool to launch rockets, doesn’t make me the most qualified. P
