Hey TD Men of Troy, but is it too little too late? Too late for a 66-3 final.

How about the next HC contract adds a fine print clause...if you don’t have an overall winning % by middle of year 2 the contract is null and void? I think the next guy has to do a total rebuild. It might take some time.

GaSo had the guts to do what had to be done a couple of years ago and it worked out pretty good for them.

Not a good day for Troy sports - men's basketball runs into a hot shooting team = loss. Women's basketball team = loss. Troy football = A** whipping loss.

No rebuild - lot of talent and this year does not count so guys CAN comeback, right? Under a new coach? Not so sure Todd, McClain, Geiger or BJ Smith would come back for another year and have to learn a new system. They would likely just move on. On top of that, the transfer portal is going to be packed, new coach or not...

Just firing the staff is like putting a band aid on a shot gun wound. You spend all your time gettin' what's been taken from you, more gets out the door...after a while you have to put a tourniquet on it.

I don't know what's to elaborate, a couple of years ago they had a losing head coach, fired him like, 4 games into his second season, installed an assistant and he started winning. Unfortunately thanks to (The HC we don’t speak of) we don't have any assistants that could do that. He wanted to make sure that no one on the staff could usurp him.

Sumrall could exit with some talent. Maybe we stop limiting ourselves and start hiring new blood. I agree. If Sumrall was so awesome, then he’d have already been hired by another team that mattered. Jus sayin.

When that other school in Tuscaloosa stopped looking for connections to their greatest coach and just hired the right guy he turned out to be their NEW greatest coach. Troy needs to stop looking for connections to the school and just hire a competent, driven coach that will change the culture.

Let me chime in for a moment since my guys name keeps coming up. Two years ago when we had a coaching vacancy the #1 goal was to keep the momentum that CNB and his staff had created right? The best way to do that was to hire someone who was part of #RTW. Jon was involved with the recruitment of 50+ of the 85 scholarship players that remained on the roster when CNB left. He had great relationships with many assistants who went to WVU, some of them would have stayed at Troy. He will be a head coach soon and he will do well. None of this has anything to do with this staff or this game but since his name was brought up, I thought I’d give my 2 cents. As always Go Troy and whomever our head coach and staff may be.

I get that theory. And tend to agree. But my comment was two fold. 1. That momentum has been disrupted, if not destroyed. So, trying to regain it will take the same as just starting over. 2. We passed on the dude. And if our theory of the next “good” coach isn’t here for more than a short stint for winning, then seems like someone would already hired him. There have been vacancies. Since no one else has hired him, then I’m not sure we should. He doesn’t bring the same momentum as he did with the last look. I don’t know him or have any feelings about HIM. Just objective look at situation. I don’t think recreating the “Bear”, sorry Neal, magic is a realistic thing. It’s a rebuild now.
