I saw highlights of Marcus Jones returning a punt for a touchdown (hey, it would have been Coastal week if it weren’t for his transfer and the ‘rona), and it got me thinking about he and Tyler Murray. Marcus is having a good season for Houston, but Tyler is leading Charlotte in tackles with 42 and has two interceptions, a fumble forced and a fumble recovered to boot.
I know some of you will trash this post because they chose to leave Troy, but I for one appreciate their efforts here and wish them well.

Tyler Sumpter punted a football to the 1 today in their win vs TCU. He's doing a great job for WVU.

Fourteen of his 29 punts have been inside the 20 — only one touchback.

He’s an even better ball player. I will always be a Marcus Jones fan.

I remember reading when he left how multiple family members are WVU season ticket holders. They get to watch him as he prepares to play in the NFL.

Correct my if I’m wrong here but Sumpter was a grad transfer and was done at Troy unless Troy offered a graduate program he was interested in.

I thought he was still classified as a senior, but I could be wrong. Either way, I harbor no ill will. He’s a TROJAN, will always be, and I wish him the best in whatever he endeavors. I think in the short term, that will be Sunday football.

I have a friend of mines son who would have been in his fourth year (RS-JR) and already has his undergrad and masters and has two years eligibility left if he enters the portal. He declined this season as his conference cancelled football only to restart half way through. So you can be a senior and already graduated. With high schools doing dual enrollment and kids graduating with their AA it could get interesting in the future if some players do that. You could be a RS-SO and have your undergrad.
