Sad to hear of the passing of a Troy legend. Troy football would not be the same without what this man did for the game experience. The band was one of the things my mother fell in love with on my first game visit to Troy. RIP Dr Long and direct the fan fare and fight song in heaven

I think we can all agree on this one - Dr. Long was Mr. Fanfare and indeed a Legend. He and his direction of the band were and still is a very bright shining light for our beloved Troy U.
There should be a statue of Dr. Long in the VET - just my .02. And as stated, RIP Dr. Long - gone but never forgotten sir!

Maybe as close to an icon as Troy will produce.

Rather than a statue, how about an empty seat in the band section designated for Dr Long, or name the whole band section the Dr Long section (or both)?

I think a statue would be awesome. In front of Long Hall - with his hand "aka The Claw" raised in the air.
