It’s been announced that he is becoming a graduate transfer. Since he is from Opelika, Troy would be a good destination. What are some thoughts?

I wouldn't mind. More depth at QB isn't a problem. If he's good enough to beat out Watson, Free, McNiel, and Screws for the starting job, then I'm okay with him coming to Troy.
(The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of) is probably one of the better QB developers in the country, so he could probably make Bentley an NFL-caliber passer.

One year, that’s all Gardner Minshew needed at WSU... Only took a Spring for Troy to tell him he wasn't big enough. I know the story

There's always a Gardner Minshew story but I have to say - if (The HC we don’t speak of) is such a good developer of QB's, we have 3 and signing another - let's develop a solid foundation, not put a band aid on it and further, further disrupt a downward trending culture

247 sports has Bentley 100% to Utah. If I recall the last time I looked at the Portal. It is LOADED with guys. You can not paint with a broad brush but a good many HIGH rated high schoolers who are not starting ARE on there.

At first glance a great deal of talent or potential there. Then you think if the potential for disgruntled and disloyal guys is higher in that pool than the general recruiting pool. (percentage wise) That answer is going to be LIKELY.
In a good many cases buyers beware. No you can not paint all with the same brush but open shopping in that PORTA POTTY I mean portal could be a problem and best sampled with a very cautious nature.

Isn’t there something to be said if a school boycotts the portal? Wouldn’t it give a recruit an impression a starting position could be earned without worrying about being replaced his senior season?
I feel like if you take from the portal often, then the portal will take away from you often.

Wouldn’t matter. We let Minshew get away to play Silvers.

Silvers was a heck of a QB. I know, right?
Some people bring up the Gardner Minshew thing like he would've been the same Heisman-type QB he was as Washington State.
Silvers was a fantastic passer, and tough. He went 31-8 with three straight bowl wins and went to the Senior Bowl. Who's to say Minshew would've done better than that?
One thing Minshew had going for him was he was playing for the heaviest passing team in America. His stats were always going to be gaudy. He wouldn't have had the same passing numbers in Neal Brown's offense though, and probably wouldn't have been drafted.

Ah this guy did just fine. Minshew left because he didn’t beat Brandon out in the Spring.

Ah this guy did just fine. Minshew left because he didn’t beat Brandon out in the Spring. Yes, that part is true but he was never given an opportunity either and basically was told they were going with Silvers because he was bigger. I got the low down on this from an inside source who I know and is a close, close family friend. Minshew hates Troy so bad now that he won't even use the same friend as his agent because he graduated from Troy. Not saying at that particular time he was better than Silvers but he also wasn't given a chance that spring either. Shoulda, coulda, woulda. Leache's system positively helped him also but he is still a NFL qb and you can't take that away from him

He was at four different schools in four years. 14-16 record as a starter in FBS. He was going to go to Alabama to hold a clipboard before Leach rescued him. He is fun to watch.

Brandon was pretty good. Not many saw the potential in Minchew and it starts with an M like Manzel.
