I just realized some interesting history with Troy football. After looking through some football history of a bunch of schools, I noticed that between 1936 and 1942, Troy was a member of the SIAA (Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference), which was a precursor to the Southern Conference and the SEC.
At the same time, Troy's own history shows that we were in the Alabama Intercollegiate Conference. So I'm a little confused on that.
It is cool to know that we were in the same conference at one point in time for seven years with the likes of Miami (FL), Louisville, Memphis, Southern Miss, and Louisiana Tech.

That Troy/Miami game happened in our first season of I-A, same season we played Nebraska. Nebraska won the championship vs. Miami that year and we were the only team that played them both.
I also remember that Miami's O-line was holding like crazy all game and getting away with it.

The Wikipedia article is the only evidence I can find about that. To my knowledge, we weren't in a conference in 36 or 37 and joined the AIC in 38. We competed and even won it one, until 42 when WWII happened. Did you see this anywhere other than the Wikipedia?

It is fascinating learning about football in the south in the very early days. Watched the documentary on ESPN. Hard to believe now but back then the South wasn't much overall in football, the Northern schools dominated and some of the power houses were Ivy league schools. The premier program was College of Suwanee and they beat everyone up North and out west. Now they are Division 3. Really interesting to hear about little schools back then beating the big schools
