I donât really feel like discussing Defense now (Martial played outstanding though).
However, the (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of) offense looks pretty promising and more fun than the more conservative NB offense.
QB
Barker is back and he played a pretty good game even though it was only his second game of the season. It looks like he will not risk much running-wise this year. He is already connecting with his targets and this is only week 2 for us.
OL
Second half performance was pretty solid, the line is very experienced and it shows.
WR
Even though there were some dropped balls and still some minor sync issues in the game, I think these three JUCO guys Todd, Geiger, McClain will all make a difference here. I was a bit worried but it seems like we donât have to worry at all. Normally it takes JCs at least half a year to adjust. But not these guys and they will only get better over time. They are talented and you can see, they all want to win fb games. Of course, it helps having a veteran OL and a QB like Barker running the offense.
RB
Losing BJ Smith is a huge blow, Bilingsley is a quality backup but he can only do so much. So who is the new back up? We still have Frye, and Jamontez Woods is a talented RB who had some good offers out of HS incl Ole Miss. He will get more playing time and benefit next year. Next year, I hope we will have Smith back along with TX A&M transfer Charles Strong, Woods and Kimani Vidal (wo is currently committed to Troy and has offers from LSU and S.Carolina).
Play-calling
Offense scored 35 pts and again, this was week2 for us playing against a good USM team. This offense is more fast-paced and almost every drive results in a score. This is going to be fun to watch.
