Take away: A little passive at the beginning. THIS was our opener (cigarettes were a scrimmage). USM played quality opponent last week WITHOUT a huge weapon in Watkins (that gave QB and coach two major weapons). We are young and in an opener against a really good receiving corp. We will have to see what our running game can do to help the passing game. Our young kids in the DBackfield will grow and we can still have a good year. Hate to lose BJ of course but openers are openers and THIS GAME WAS OUT OPENER. Week off after scrimmage. Yep good and bad. While there are a good many who are playing well and with heart. I want to thank Carlton for walking on here at Troy

The correct video is up at troytrojans.com Coach said he was really pleased. That is opposite of our last coach who said it's not ok to lose. I don't get a warm fuzzy from (The HC we don’t speak of)'s pressers. I suppose I'm not used to his style. I'm not ready to abandon ship yet, I'll just treat each game as more of a booze cruise. Lot's of Bourbon this season. Not where I can watch the video yet, but I'm looking for one main thing. He takes responsibility for the loss as head coach and says they didn't do a good enough job overall. No loss is acceptable and no excuses. If he didn't do that, the little bit of faith I was holding out for him is probably gone. I wasn't happy with his pregame presser where he said this game didn't matter because it was noncon. Felt like he was preemptively making excuses for losing like coaches did in Blakeney's last few years. I want to see something else (ownership) postgame. Yeah, you might want to watch the video with a friend because it ainât good.

Maybe the worst press conference I've ever seen. Could he be any more "I don't give a crap we lost? Guess if Mizzou beats us we will get the old " well when you play an SEC team you get SEC players" they laid 67 points on us but I've really proud how we played

This was post game coach presser and it is first loss for him. I am actually more interested in what Mondayâs presser sounds like. New coach in close game is not going to throw firebombs with harsh and critical tone in post game talk the first time. I give (The HC we don’t speak of) credit on that one. The loss was not a lack of effort. Maybe a lack of experience or just a tad of talent? But not a lack of effort from literally any player I could see. However, I am not going to watch the film and grade things out. Think about it guys. New boss comes in and things go wrong right away. What are your options? Letâs see what the time is from here on out. One post game presser is NOT the aw shucks we heard for 4-5 years of we tried and they are so much better and and and. His presser showed grace to his young team mixed with some veterans. I come away with a totally different opinion than a great many of you. Donât believe for an instant that THAT presser is going to be indicative of (The HC we don’t speak of)âs demeanor or attitude should we lose any more and that includes every game including Mizzou and App St and all the others.

I do expect him to own the loss because he's the head coach, then go behind closed doors and deal with it. Definitely give praise where it's due, but just admit that some aspects need work and you'll have more on that later. Mainly, I want to see what his character is and if he's going to be a head coach or an excuse maker.

In the context of opener and good receiving corp I just did not see where excuses were made that exonerates the players or coaches. I hope for ALL. of our sake I am right. (Not to be right and anyone else be wrong) but there will be a time to take a different approach after a narrow win where there were opportunities to win. We need to have coach be a head coach as you say.

That is suppose to say loss not a narrow win. The real real reason for optimism in (The HC we don’t speak of) is adversity reveals character. We should never have hired him if we were not going to support the opportunity for this to prove true. Hopefully

There's a spot in the middle that leaves me some concerns similarly to the feeling I got with the pregame presser, but I agreed with most of what he said and how he said it. I prefer the calmer attitudes, so no issues there for me. Still don't have a good feel for him yet, obviously, and still not sure he understands this isn't the Sunbelt he left, where moral victories were a thing. But I expect he gets a good chance for a win speech next week. Defense will look better no matter what, and that hopefully gives them a confidence boost.

Troy missed a field goal. Troy gave away a field goal at the end of the first half.
We lost by 5.
