All of these games are winnable, but we have some improvements to make. Need to get takeaways on defense and some would be playmakers on offense need to work on catching the ball. Barker went 18 for 29, a good number considering there were at least 4 drops. Hopefully we keep the intensity up during the bye week.

Next games / Week2
Southern Miss at Mississippi St USM starting RB suffered an injury and might not play in the next few games + top USM WR still suspended for another game
UAB at Akron Fighting Lizards traveling to Akron. Akron might be the weakest opponent on our schedule this year (other than Campbell)
Arkansas St at UNLV Our first SBC opponent (this year) headed to Las Vegas
West Virginia at Missouri Will be interesting to see how WVU offense and defense perform against Mizzou

If JMU didn't lose two turnovers, wvu goes down. Mizzou may not be that hot this season based on their first game, but they handle wvu.

It took a year for Troy's players to get used to Neal Brown's culture. Neal Brown will exceed expectations at WVU in a year or two, in my opinion.

Unpopular opinion... but, I could care less what Neal Brown does now.

I wish him well but his play calling won't work against the Oklahoma's in the Big 8. He better hope VK is on his game. He never got into a shoot out his whole time at Troy. Not sure he will know how to react

Not sure he will know how to react What do you classify as a shootout? I think Neal has proven just how smart a person he really is. He was an offensive coordinator that became a head coach. He’s now a head coach who calls plays. He builds his offense and game plans around his players and their abilities. If you have a strong defense there’s nothing wrong with leaning on them. If you question what he’s doing and what he’s learned review the last two Troy games vs LSU.

I can't understand why everyone is so in love with Neal Brown and can't love (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of). Neal moved on, we should too! (The HC we don’t speak of) and his team is recruiting well and I liked what I saw on Saturday. Lot of room for improvement but we have some talent and depth is very good. Really excited about this year.
Oh, a win is a win - 24-21 is the same as 54-51

I may well develop the same feelings for (The HC we don’t speak of). I like what I am hearing via players (be it reliable second handed) it also appears recruiting is going well. If you are not sure why so many loved Neal just talk to some students or former students while he was at Troy. It was not just about football. Yes he has moved on and that is life. We see it in old friends former bosses, former employees or former teachers. You move on or theyâdo but that does not diminish the respect and admiration you have for some of them. We were lucky and I hope we struck gold again . At this point it looks good and I , for one, lament that if we win 12-14 games that (The HC we don’t speak of) to will move on. It is the nature of the beast at our level. Thus, Inreally appreciate the special ones even more. If even for a short period they give all they have for the university thru the kids on the team and the community , then that is someone to be remembered fondly even if they move on and even if the one who replaces them is great.

I feel like everyone here wants to win. Neal connected with people that goes beyond football, on a personal level, and thatâs something that sticks with you and you appreciate.

Given time, which NONE of us know if we will get, I think (The HC we don’t speak of) will be loved and appreciated in much the same way as Neal. Time will tell.

I support (The HC we don’t speak of) but don't trust him yet. He has to prove himself the way Neal did. It's also hard to get invested in a coach when you don't expect him to be around more than one season. Fully invested in the team and players, though. Loved seeing Barker play again, and really impressed with the receivers. There needs to be some tightening up, but that's been a recurring issue in game one regardless of opponent. Glad it was Campbell this year. LOL

Neal’s game management tactics won us some games (+ VKs halftime adjustments). Not popular (and sometimes it can drive fans crazy) but he managed to get wins vs USM, App St, Akron, LSU, Nebraska, etc - failed vs Liberty however. The NB offense was a bit too conservative overall (but keep in mind Sawyer Smith was pretty banged up and our top WRs were all injured late in the season). I agree however, we would not have won most of these key games without outstanding DEF and ST efforts.
However, NB is definitely developing and maturing as a coach. He has a plan and he designed the wins vs LSU and Nebraska (there is some articles on how he and his staff studied all of our past moral victories and then devised a plan to beat these P5 teams). On the other hand, he also couldn’t avoid letdown games after big wins (year after year) which cost us Top25 rankings...this is sth I won’t miss.

Oklahoma has had two heisman winners at qb in the last three years. Point is NB hasn't been in a shootout since being a HC.

To Neal's credit....We got in a shootout with Tennessee 4 years ago. I really thought we were going to win that game.

WVU struggling vs Mizzou, trailing 0-24 (Q2) UAB up 10-6 vs Akron (Q2)
UPDATE
Missouri now up 31-0 at halftime. Bryant with a great first half, he will be tough to handle in a few weeks. WVU performance just plain awful, esp WVU's offensive performance.

WVU just isn't a good football team. CNB has signed on for a total rebuild project and will have to recruit the talent needed to successfully complete the task. I'm not sure the guys on the field today can be the base for a rebuild. It's not going to be a quick fix.
